I wish they would do that with one of the Erie streams. I'll bet it would have the cleanest banks, and good numbers of fish. I think 20 mile would b a good choice.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...

Hard to vote without knowing some particulars about the locale. Seems if it's considered wild, probably no stocking so depemds on how much pressure/traffic it gets. Also how much of the total stream is protected this way? Lots of unknownes to be passing judgement on a single sign.

I see no problem as long as bait fishermens license fees are reduced to reflect the lack of water open to them. Doc-- many anglers use live minnows, worms, wax worms, and maggots to name a few. Anything that you would use to fish for pellethead rainbows will work on steelhead at times. A "good" flyfisherman will outfish the bait guys for both steelies and pelletheads but bait will work, sometimes very well.

    Some smart people in Colorado....
They don't look at their fishing resource as just a money maker for them.
Theuy actually give a sh1t about their wild trout streams..

"Class" You mean like a fly fisherman snagging a steelhead in the tail and then chasing it downstream through a couple runs thereby screwing up 20-30 other guys fishing because he didn't want to lose his fly. How many of us haven't seen that a couple dozen times.
Slobs are slobs and the type of enticement used has nothing to do with it.

Not that so much, just the fighting between fly fisherman and bait fisherman. Hell we are all out there for the same thing. WE LOVE TO FISH. And we are SUPPOSED to be sportsmen.

OK so the way I see it , in more or less words ,  since I both bait fish and fly fish for steelhead I am doing it wrong no matter which way I decide to fish for steelhead.

This is the problem with bait vs. flys

I dont choose sides I just choose the way I want to fish. And the way I see it I WIN every time I fish.

Ill say no more on this and fish the way I want thank you.

I don't really have a problem with how anyone fishes....I just think it would be nice if Erie had a designated area without basketball bobbers slapping the center of the hole....where guys knew the flyline has to go backwards b4 it goes forward....where you never saw a stringer full of fish.

I know its a pipedream.....but does having a dream make me guilty of infighting or choosing sides?

My parents and teachers said I could be anything I want...were they wrong?

Whats wrong with my "bobbers". I think an artificial only section is more appropriatte then fly fishing only.

I have fly fished for the steelhead in erie, ohio, and ny.  If you use a fly rod with any type of continuity, you know immediately if you have hooked a fish anywhere but the head.  Now, flossing is another story, but when fish are active, you can still differentiate a take from a fly bumping noses.

I dont fish erie much, but i do agree with that. I do like the thought of having one of the smaller creeks that arent as popular as walnut or elk artificial only.  Its one creek, its not like it would kill us bait fisherman to give one up.
