september
it's almost that time of year again......... anyone want to take a guess when the first steelhead pic will be posted i always make my firs trip up around sept, 15th or so i know the run at that time of year is almost nonexistant aside from some early prerun steel. This is the price i have to pay for my addiction to steelhead alley I just pray for some rain!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a side note I cant wait for ice fishing to begin.

I hope this board will actually talk about steelhead fishing when the time comes. I feel bad for guys who come here actually looking for information, it just isn't here anymore. Be that as it may that some have opinions about the fish and fisherman that frequent PA, I can't wait to get out on the Walnut creek wall here early season even if there is 10 fish and 30 anglers fishing for them. Look forward to it every single year.

It would just be nice to actually talk about fishing and point someone in the right direction to catching a steelhead. I hope someone posts the first picture soon, it's always a joy to me to see that.

I agree with Loomis. However I no longer post information of any specific nature. I pm people. Why? Because if you try to help out publicly you will: Attract numbers of anglers way to big to be on a given area. Or, PO somebody who thinks that a stretch of river should be his and his alone. Or, you will attract people who will try to decry and ridicule your best intentions. So I pm. I will still post general usable information but if a person just reads the questions posted at the top of the page there just isn't much more information needed. Really? How many times must you list suckerspawn or woolybuggers as the best bait? ? ? This year the best fly will be a grey woolybugger, and the best bait will be a 1-5/8 inch emerald shiner.

it's no secret but i think people get upset cause they spend the time and money doing their homework only to have someone ask for the info they worked so hard to get.... on the other hand not everyone has time or money to find these things out so they have to resort to asking for the info...... this is a year after year debate and it will never be resolved............ hahahaha so sit back and watch the fun cause it can only get better!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello glad to be back on, I had to move for my fiances job this year the whole way out east to Harrisburg. I have been a a regular fishing the tribs since i was a little kid. Now I had to move but I fully intend on getting up there as much as I can I even considered going up to oak orchard again this year. I honestly dont want to know what they are hitting on, I dont want to know the hot spots, I have my own I have my own bait and jigs and flies i used. All i ask is that if someone can just let me know when the pre run is on. I want to bring the fiance up when its still nice out and let her get some and let them run. She never had that chance i threw her to the wolves last year and took her straight to the chutes lol. She really did good and we made alot of friends up there i hope to see again this year. I am hoping to come up the weekend of sept 16th we both have that weekend off its hard to get weekend off together im a nurse she is a pr marketing manager. But i love it i get alot of weekday fishing. But trust me guys dont need to know your secrets, I have my own way to fish for the chrome, Just asking for a little info on how they are coming in at night. The earliest i ever did well was sept 5 but it was late night catches and early morning thats what im hoping to bring her up for. Any info will help greatly with the high gas prices. You can message me or pM the info its greatly appreciated Tight lines to all in the upcoming months

Good thing you guys are not crappie fishing. If you know how to catch them they are ALL over the piers right now. Some evenings my average size was 12 inches. Pictures ARE available upon request. I don't know which is better eating though, crappies or walleye? The steel can wait til Nov as far I'm concerned.

what piers are you fishing? 12 inch crappie is big for average size. i always thought of them as spring fish. guess you never know. and YES walleye are kinda nasty with the black viens running through the meat. i'd eat crappie any day over walleye, in fact i dont even eat walleye anymore. saw your report on the site, how did you count all those fish? i always say im counting thenm today but after 5 or 6 i forget and then just guesstamate. good job on the fishing

I was at the nut this morning. IT RAINED Its only a matter of time before the first wave comes in. Both fish and people. When its time you will know. While there standing in the rain in the early morning hours I saw O fish. That doesnt mean there wont be any there tomorrow. They will be there soon. You will know. Keep an eye on the reports and on the forum threads You will know. When you see the first fish posted up here and it has rained they will come both fish and people. Thats about all you need to know.
