The farmers in my area were dancing in it as reported by local paper.Did n't do anything for stream levels but gave the flora a good drink. We can only hope August brings some storms in from the tropics.

Hey jack, im seeing scattered thunderstorms in the 10 day but I don't think its anything capable of penetrating that thick/dry crust we currently have. Im sure alot of folks with dug wells are collecting any rain water they can in barrels. The one promising sight in the forecast are a few days with highs in the 70's... things will start changing fast hopefully. But there is no doubt that we need some slow steady rain with intermittent down pours to change any type of water levels. dont you worry though; I'll be up in a week and a half doing a rain dance down by the river while howling with the coy dogs...

Well nothing major, but there is somescattered rain forecasted through the next 10 days. What catches my eye even more so are some days coming up with highs only in the 70's. Couple that with some rain and a lower mid day sun, things may start changing for the bettersooner than later

No 90's in sight on the 10 day forecast - looks good.

The shorter days suck though - tomorrow will be the last day with sunset post 8pm....

Heading out to local riva this afternoon - nice overcast drizzly day - been quite awhile since I swung the fly rod...

Waters warm as soup - any DOA trout = racoon food.

    later..

my grandpa went by the lower reservoir yesterday and said it didnt look to dry, maybe a few more on again off again showers in the next month should help.

but my fishing buddies came up last weekend for some fly tying, steaks and shrimp, beers, fire, more beer, and firing of large caliber assault rifles in boylston. after realizing we needed rain, we decided to burn a old leather couch as a sacrifice to the fishing and rain gods, hopefully theyre at least thinking about it.

from a reliable source posted ,even at 185cfs there is more water going out then coming in.. the scheduled release this weekend has been cancelled with a possible cancellation labor day weekend as well or at least a reduction in the release.
according to him, his pictures and yearly diary, things at this point are on course for a repeat of 2007 drought.. If that were to happen I'm sure the dsr would be a very busy place again as was that year.. but of course all this could change with some good days of soaking rains..

sorry I'm not posting much.. trying to get or at least supervise some construction going on here and bringing much pain upon myself..

Well; id hope to think we're not going to have a repeat. But if we do; the only good we might get out of it is the possibility of all of us fishing down in dsr......JK....

Im glad to hear they cancelled the release. I was actually hoping they would given the situation....I really wish they would've closed the gates earlier on in may and maybe we wouldn't be facing this problem.

On a side note; I've heard that recent development along the flood plane of the upper reservoir has a lot to do with the recent evacuations of water they've been doing in recent years. Any thoughts or facts anyone can add to this????

can't deny that they went from around 1000 cfs for weeks straight right down to 185. Use your imagination after that....

How about the development along the flood plane of the upper reservoir???? Any input on that from anyone?????

Here in the Lehigh Valley we are going from drought conditions to possible flood conditions,it's been pouring off and on all night and some more on the way.The total could reach 3 inches.
I'm hoping Pooolaski gets some of this in the coming month.

Yesterday's weather forecast called for approx 1 inch where I live..

Received 2.75 yesterday in my garden, 25 miles south of me received 6.75 in !! (no typo).

Yeah Metal - the power company is there to produce kwh's, not feeshes...

Hope the good folks of Poolaski and Altmar don't get a repeat of last Oct 1..

DB - I don't follow you regarding the development surrounding the upper resovoir. Are you implying that folks were allowed to build inside the floodzone of the resovoir and now that is a limiting factor in how much water the POwer-Co can hold-back? Seems feeshy to me that they would be provided building permits to do so.

Oh well, I'ze gotz my old faded Jimmy Spencer "Mr. Excitement" t-shirt on,(to impress the cougars ).. Ize off to the races. I have a funny feeling that the ole liver will quiver today..

    later d00dz...

thats whats so crazy; so many areas are getting more than their fair share of rain. it seems as if theres a dry halo surrounding the region... down by me we've had 2 storms this summer over 3 inches and a few 1 plus inchers....

drake, yes, that is what i am asking about. i have no facts, but that is what ive heard. a few years ago they were holding water back and after talking to a local guy i know about it; he claimed that they were holding water back to keep the basin filled to deter folks from building too close. now i am starting to hear that people have built too close... but remeber i have only heard this. i am not claiming that it is true. i'm hoping someone can chime in with some facts on the topic; i saw clint was signed in last night, i was hoping he would maybe have some info on it...

hey drake; knock those cougars silly buddy

Well, 7 out of 10 days are predicted for scattered thunderstorms. We all know a passing thunderstorm soon CAN SOMETIMES drop inches of water. Id be surprised if we don't see some changes within the next 2 weeks.... fingers are crossed though...

Holding water back to DETER building in a flood zone? Now that sounds like a local telling stories about something he does n't know much about.Ever hear of building permits,or don't they issue those things up in the north woods?
