Allegheny: What's working?

I'm planning on floating Franklin to Fisherman's cove this Saturday. I know this isn't the best time of year, but has anything been working at all on the smallies lately? Does anyone have any favorites lures for mid-summer there?

Thank you in advance.

Also, what's a good place to have a good dinner in Franklin?

I've been getting a few each morning on top water prop baits. Usually 5am-8am and then the bite dies for me. Tried them late evening and they don't produce nearly as much. Stuck on shore though so I'm limited.

This week I've seen some huge schools of shiners getting attacked by smaller bass on and off all day. I've picked up a few here and there just trying to imitate the shiners with soft plastics, but I've caught mostly small bass this way. FYI this is on the Allegheny between Sharpsburg and Harmarville. I think where you're fishing has greater numbers of bigger smallies, according to reports I've read on a few other sites.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The closer we adhere to the Holy Bible and the US Constitution (as it was written) the closer we get to the model that made America great. The great American experiment worked, human nature just got in the way.

I fished from Kenerdale to Emlenton last year about this time.  The best lure those two days was a Mepps inline spinner.  Caught mostly small mouth but did get 1 smaller walleye.  I did not try bait.

I heard helgramite's were a great bait.  Are you able to catch these any time during the summer or are they only around during certain times?

Thanks, all. My brother will be happy with that Mepps comment. That's all he knows how to fish with.
