Tarporn

Since I was a complete loser and didn't catch any tarpon during the Annual Keys Tarpon Trip, some replies to the post asked for photos from the past in order to satisfy their need for some tarpon porn or tarporn for short.

This is actually from this year's trip -- a cow and calf manatee getting a drink of fresh water (I am told this is an illegal activity, so shsssss) at the Islamorda Fish Company next door to the World Wide Sportsman.  There is no truth to the rumor that the ubersnobs on the fly fishing forum are working on a hose nozzle fly and are headed down to try to catch this one.

Here are some blasts form the past.

Funny that you wrote that Indsguiz as I was wondering what Tarpon tasted like , not that I would sacrifice one to find out . I knew a guy that has eaten muskie and as he relayed to me , it was then that he realized all of the stories he had heard and read about muskie tasting very bad was most likely perpetrated by catch and release musky fishermen [not that there's anything wrong with C/R ] . He figured the stories were passed on in order to protect the species and also said that muskie tasted similar to pike . Of course there are those that say pike tastes awful . To each their own .

While tarpon are eaten around the world, in the close waters off a lot of the U.S. they cannot be harvested by anglers and a vaild research project is required to obtain a permit to kill one.
