Brown trout hybrid question:
I caught a nice brown trout-24 inches- that had larger spots than I was used to and some of the spots connected on the back and down towards the tail. It definitely was not a tiger trout. any ideas what it was?

I think it was a tiger after all -after looking at some other pictures of it and other tiger trout.

Any tiger trout I have ever seen or caught did not have "spots", they have what I call more like patterns for design, not really round or oval spots.. more like lines ....

Doc, I got pictures and will post them. Tiger trout that I've caught loook like the pic you posted which is why I thought it wasn't one. But, I've seen some pictures online of what were claimed to be tiger trout that looked more like a brown than a brooke, and more like the one I caught.

I would say it is a tiger. There are numerous patterns resulting from the cross but with the patterns down the side and top like the picture here is more the normal. Some brown trout have some unusual patterns on them also. I usually catch a tiger or two over the past few years but none this year.

BenC, you got a purty one! They're all cool looking, but I like yours.

Those tigers are some nice lookin fish I never caught one til this year. But I got 5 so far this year 14-23" must be due to the fact that they put a lot more browns in the places I normally Target trout. I'm thinkin tigers are mixed in w browns like palaminos are mixed in w rainbows.

Ben & Doc: Both images are of Tigers. They can range in coloration & pattern. I've seen them look more like a brook and more like a brown and some inbetween. here are two I got this year and they are somewhat different.
