Canoe Float trip

I am thinking of making a float trip on either Red Bank Creek or Mahoning Creek around New Bethlehem for smallies. Has anyone tried to float either of these two this time of the year. I don't mind a little portage but I don't want to try this if all I am going to do is take my canoe for a walk. Any suggestions on put in and take out would be great.

I floated Mahoning Creek last year from a bridge that goes over the creek about 5 miles from the mouth to the mouth at the Allegany. It was low and had to do some dragging, but not that bad. The fishing wasnt that great. Caught some smaller smallies. There is a nice rapid shortly before you get to the mouth that can be fun in a canoe. I couldnt believe they stock muskies in there. There were hardly any deep holes.
