Finally made it out...

Was finally able to get the boat wet on Saturday. We started in no hurry, my philosophy is that I do this for fun and relaxation and I refuse to do it on a schedule. Flipstick and his friend Jake met me at my house at 6:30 and we picked my oldest son up at the Clarion WalMart at 7. We got to Poor Richards a little after 9 am and got our bait for the day. They had some good sized emeralds. Went to Walnut and I was expecting it to be crowded but it was jam packed. Luckily with our late start we were getting there about the same time some of the early risers were coming back in so it wasn't hard to get a spot. Well, we hit the water and started out NW and saw the perch pack. Cruised slowly through the end of the pack and saw this on the finder:

Sorry for the glare on the screen, it was a little sunny. Yes, that's perch, 20 feet thick! We dropped anchor and got the first line in the water at 10:30. Jake was the official time keeper. You literally couldn't get your bait to the bottom. We put the 120th perch in the boat at 11:37! Craziest perch fishing I've ever had, doubles and triples for an hour. Not a lot of Jumbos but a nice batch of fish and some good laughs.

We put the perching gear away and readied the trolling rods. We had marked some eyes around the pack, so I decided to troll the edge of the pack before heading to deeper water. Couldn't get any takers near the perch, they were probably full. We then headed NW to 70' and trolled for about an hour when this guy decided it was lunch time.

We decided that we'd go in order of age, which meant I would be last don't know when it happened, I used to be the young guy .

No more takers for a while so we started moving in and aroun 65' my son got his first Lake Erie walleye.

Yes, that's my finger in the corner.

Not long after Flipstick got his and the wait was on, I woulda trolled till dark to get mine . Luckily didn't have to wait that long and before I got mine to boat Jake had his second on the line. We finished the day with 5 eyes and lots of sunburn.

A great day with great guys, y'all are welcome any time on the boat. Next time, hopefully, one of us will regain our senses long enough to get a pic of the Corona girl!

Luckily my son took an eye and 30 perch with him when we dropped him off, it only took about 45 minutes to clean the rest. Honestly don't remember what time we finished, I was tired

    Good story...

I made it out on Saturday, for the first time this year, and my story is almost the same. We started earlier...limited on perch...and only got 3 eyes. Oh yeah caught a litte sun too. I have no pictures to share since I forgot my cell in the camper. Ooops.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Good story B'Dog!  I don't fish Erie but enjoy reading and dreaming!  Thanks for posting!

Just take that pic of my oldest son and add 20 years...

That was the first trip for him and he's hooked! He hit the Clarion River yesterday trolling for eyes... in his inflatable! He sent this pic along with a note that says "Walleye on the river... Trolling... Addicted"
