High point

Was thinking on heading up to high point this week to do some fishing. Anyone know what the conditions are like or how the fish are hitting?

I hit high point this morning,

It was gorgeous..............6:30.....62 degrees and CALM

Weeds not too bad......found several areas open, weeds down 4-5 feet deep....crystal clear........

Put out shiner on top.....and then tried to catch a bluegill.......
While I was playing with the bluegills had a 15" pike take the bluegill that I had just hooked..........

Then I had a pike run the shiner on top..........pulled him up to the top....
about a 20"  he was only holding the shiner and let go...............

While I was using meal worms and I caught a 6" perch...........so I hooked him up
and threw him out.......1/2 hour later one took him for a ride............same thing just holding him in the mouth

Put the same perch back out and 10 minutes later he went for another ride...........
I let him run for at least two minutes...felt like an hour.....he came up to the top on his own,
again just holding on to the perch...
He slapped his tail and said good-bye.....about 24" long....

An hour past.....stood up to stretch and watched something in the neighborhood of 48"
cruise 5 feet under the boat............... pretty certain it was a muskie.........

    Still a better day than being at work....left @ 11:30.......80 degrees.........just a light breeze...........

FishinGuy thanks for the heads up. Been fishing High Point for years and never knew about the Enhancement rules.  I liked it so much Monday, took my son up today, while he's on college break. Was overcast all morning looked like rain, but never did. There are tons of bluegills. I took my ultralight and fished with meal worms. Caught +20 bluegills(and released), lost around 20 more. All were only 3 to 6 inches. If you have a kid and can handle the wind they would have a blast. Had several perch rise on the meal worm retrieve with the bluegills. Perch were all about 6 inches but saw at least a dozen.
First cast with a shiner, within 3 minutes had a pike take him for a ride. Just like Monday only holding it, not swallowing it. In the 5 hours we were there we had 8 what we called runs. Alot of tugging and swimming but only got one hooked. Very nice pickerel at 24 inches. Wind got back to the normal......white caps....... We did have a nice bald eagle circling the south access for over an hour.........that's right a bald eagle............ Also an osprey circled for a while..... Oh Yeah, the ride in 3 hens and 12 polts in a field.....
Again better than being at work.........BUT my vacation is coming to an end.....Back to the grind........ARGH
Whites creek looked inviting.......wish I had time and my fly rod.........Me and dad used to fish it every year, first day of trout, behind the Boy Scout camp......OOPS my age is showing.......LOL......
Any day you can get your rods wet, its a good one..........be safe.......Hope your line gets stretched.....
