Night fishing

Does anyone know if you need a permit to night fish greenlick on a boat? Or do you just need the nav lights?

not sure about from a boat, but they have been keeping an eye on the gated part of the park and the cemetery side too. enforcing the "park closes at dusk" rule. they also blocked off the old launch by the church. so unless you have a chainsaw you can't get in or out of there anymore. pretty much seems like they're trying to keep people from wanting to fish there at all.

You do not need a nite permit, although I think that would be a good idea. You do need proper lights on the boat. When I asked about the day use only regs.I was told that they did not apply to those that are fishing. If you know anything about what goes on there after dark(& sometimes before dark) you know the reason why.As far as the PFC not wanting people to fish there I believe that is exactly opposite of the truth. I believe that by cleaning it up, that they are trying to get more families to feel comfortable & safe there. That area by the church should have been closed years ago. I can't tell you how much trash we have picked out of there from parkers, including condoms, needles,& of course bottle & cans. sam

thanks for the info guys. its sad when people cant even pick up their trash, just throw it in your bucket or fishing vest or something other than on the ground.

that's why you just don't use the out houses. ever.

my friend was fishing there a few weeks back and was told he couldn't even fish in the day use areas after dark. he was told this by a state cop. i know they like to create their own rules for stuff. has anyone talked to an actual fish commission person about this? i'd like to find out what the deal is for sure.

You can call the PFC bioligist: Rick Lorsen,He is in charge of this area. His # is 1 -814-445-3454 x1. He has always been helpful whenever I have called. The reason that the State police were involved is that Fayette Cnty doesn't have a Park Police force & must call on the State Police or the Mt. Pleasant police to help patrol the park.Greenlick is a County park governed by PFC rules. sam

Called Rick Lorsen and he was more than helpful. The way they are handling Greenlick is that the Park is closed from 10 P.M to 5 A.m. If you are fishing you are able to fish during these hours. If you are not fishing and are there for some other reason you have to go.Right now you can fish 24/7 but if you have some other reason for being there you're gone.Fishermen themselves can help control what happens here, in the age of cell phones we should use them. The Fish Commission has their own branch of law enforcement along with the State and local depaertments. So we can help rid the weirdos and degenerates out.

No, they don,t close any gate because there is no-one to do it or to open them in the morn. btw There is no working light at the ramp because everytime the county fixes them, the in-breds in the area shoot them out. Then the last time they cut the wires instead. sam

Sam is absolutely right! That's why if you see someone doing anything out of place pick up the phone or get a license plate number or take a picture with your phone. I carry a Taurus Judge 45/410 Cal. and a 12 gauge in my boat with a lisence to carry. I will challenge any moron anywhere while I call or photo them.

Thanks again for the information. It's nice to know that the people fishing are able to fish 24/7 . Like the above post if you aren't fishing after dark you shouldn't be there
