green lick lake

Anyone been doing any good out there? Me and two friends are planning to go out this week, just wanted to know if anyone was having any luck. Mainly going for bass and catfish.

We went out yesterday, caught 1 legal bass, and about 30 decent sized bluegill. And I've never seen any trout caught in the lake, and i don't believe they are stocked there either

Has anybody ever trolled worm harnesses at Greenlick? Going to give it a try early next week with harnessess and deep cranks.

Went there today, major algae bloom made the entire lake look like pea soup.

What happened to the Walleyes? Fished Greenlick yesterday for 7 hours. One 16" Walleye, 8 Largemouths between 7" to 12"s.Lots of nice Crappies.Trolled Warm Harnesses all over the lake from 30" to 4 ' NADA!!! Got all the Bass and Crappies on cranks and swimbaits. Hardly graphed any fish at all, they must be nailed to the bottom.Walleyes should be on the Flats because that's pretty much 3/4 of the lake, but I'm lost. We'll keep after them I know they are in there.

There are eyes in there, but not as many as some of the newbies were led to believe. Also with all of the pressure that the net has brought to the lake, means that there will be fewer legal eyes left. Not to say that you won't catch any,I would just hold off on inviting the neighbors over for a fish fry just yet. Also, starting to look a little like lake Arthur with all of the boats with thier striper nets sticking up.I think that some of them are getting dry rot from not being in the water yet. sam

Have noticed a lot more fishermen. Ten years ago I would be the only boat sometimes all day and no shore fishermen except at night. Used to be able to yank in quite a few some days but most were short.I catch and release so I never hurt the population.I think stocked Walleyes don't reproduce in certain lakes. At least that what a deputy told me once there.

A lot of pressure on that lake for its size and those who catch eyes don't tell, they just keep them and go back to try for more.

Heard on the news tonight someone had to be rescued from Greenlick Lake. Tried to swim across the lake and started to have diffaculty swimming. Don't know all the details or even how this person was brought back to shore. No swimming allowed there, but who follows rules these days.

That's not good to hear, that lake is wider than it looks. I remember years ago people used to swim on the breast end near the overflow. There is definitely a lot of rule breaking going on there and most of it is not by the fishermen.

I used to really enjoy fishing out there at night and usually did so by myself, sometimes to the wee hours of the morning but there are so many "non fishing" type people that drive around and/or party there that I don't feel safe any more. Too old to fight and too fat to run so I generally stay clear after dark.

That's why I carry a Taurus Judge. It's seems to keep the perverts away and the crackheads and drunks get sober really fast looking at a 45 long colt/ 410 shotgun barrel.

Seems like things are calming down now that the word is getting out that the WCO now lives in that area.I have been throwing plugs at nite for about 10 yrs now & have noticed less traffic at nite. I have been carrying for a couple of years & thank God I haven't needed it yet. I am too crippled to fight & too fat to run also. sam

I've always wanted to fish greenlick at night but never did because I've heard too many stories. But tonight I decided to go. I got there about 10:30 PM and casted out into the shallows by the bridge that goes to 982. I noticed another person fishing on the other side with a lantern. Not 10 minutes later someone started yelling at them from the parking lot above them about "I'm gonna come down there and kill you." The people fishing shined a flashlight up towards the lot as they continued to taunt them. That was enough for me, I won't be going back to Greenlick after dark again. God I hate Fayette County and the trash that infests it.
