"One Fly" Rod

Gentlemen, I have one rod done and now I am going to start the 1st place rod. So I'm asking for suggestions. Should I do a brand new rod, or should I go with something restored from the 40-50's or should I restore an antique that's over 90+ years old. This rod is a Symbol of fishing ability and value should not enter the equation. At least it doesn't for me.

I like the idea of winning the antique rod personally. I think it just adds to the story behind it.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

not that I'm in any danger of actually winning it but I like the idea of the antique rod too.

It personally wouldn't matter to me at all so I say go with whatever you have on hand Jack.

I would say the antique one too. Just for the nostalgia factor.

    Jack,
Make sure you give yourself enough time to re-do all those intermediate wrap. October is fast approaching.
It's all up to you, buddy.
IMO, Brand new would be easier to do because you won't have to do all that stripping, repairing and prep work.
Whatever you choose, one thing is for sure. We all appreciate what your doing.
