"A Gift to My Wife"

Thought about this for a while - started last night and finished this morning. Thought I'd share it. A small gift to my wife.

"They say you forget your troubles on a trout stream, but that's not quite it..... you begin to see where your troubles fit into the grand scheme of things, and suddenly they're just not such a big deal anymore."

she thinks my beetle patterns are very good. maybe a beetle in a pine tree will be appropriate!

Superb work! You've combined a number of techniques and also produced a realistic fly that any lady would love!

Thanks everyone for your comments on this. Very much appreciated and I'm glad you liked it. I put it in a small frame and gave it to her along with the flowers - no special occasion - just something to let her know how much I appreciate her putting up with me for as many years as she has. Especially with this strange obsession I have with fly fishing and tying. Guess it's better than being in the local pub every night though.   She always knows where to find me.... down at the bench.

FFDave .... that's a good one.... as long as it took me to put it together - no  - even if she would let me .... I wouldn't want to risk getting it stuck in a tree on the backcast!!   Thanks for the chuckle.

Beautiful work and a nice gesture for your wife, but (and don't take this the wrong way) if I did that let's just say I'd have a lot more time to fish and half as much of everything else...
