western lake ontario

Hey gents!

I'm thinkn about going to the western part of lake Ontario the weekend of May 20th. Does anybody have any tips and launching info. I have never been, but I gotta try it. After looking at the post and pics that were posted in the fishing report section its a must.
The final piece of my rig is a set of riggers, which I haven't purchased yet. I am heading up with 4 big dipsy rods and 8 big board rods.
Does any body have any advice?
It is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Your Walleye gear will not hold up to a Fiesty Spring King. The dipseys will work, as long as the braid is high enough poundage and you bump up your leaders and you have the heavier dipsey rods. As far as boards leadcore or copper would be the way to go, riggers would be hugley beneficial as well. Good luck.

    King nuke,

Thanks for the info. Thats kinda what I was thinkn. Maybe I will have the riggers for the next trip. I'm running 30 lb power pro on the dipsy rods. Do you think 20 lb big game mono is ok for the leaders or should I be running 30 lb?
Not really sure were to start washing some lures at, but from what I have been reading west of the oak orchard a few miles in 70-90 fow. Sounded pretty good. Any thoughts?

Might want to think about dreamweaver snubbers as well. Wire Divers may be needed to get you down to where the kings roam. Could beat up on yoyo's and steelies with that gear though

Well I thought we did ok for the first Ontario trip. We fished in waters outside of the niagra bar. 80 to 200 feet of water. We did ok with big boards and dipsy rods. Riggers are in the budget for the next trip for sure. We caught 3 nice sized kohos up high off the boards on some stick baits. Two break offs 50-70 feet down on the dipsy. They may have been kings.
The wifey and I grilled the kohos in foil with olive oil, white wine, butter, s @ p, garlic salt and lemon. I think it was better than an eye. Although its hard for me to remember what an eye tastes like its been quite a while......
