Anybody know the pricing of boat rentals out there? Also do they sell minnows at their bait shop?

I'm pretty sure the boat rental place sells something. It's been a long long time since I've been there and I seem to recall it but things change I know.

I dont think the rental shop sells live bait anymore. Maybe during opening weekend for trout. DJ's quick stop is on the left coming from Imperial. Its a good little store they sell everything including minnows.

I used to live out that way but not anymore. I'm thinking about taking my wife's younger brother out there this summer. I don't think he's been fishing before so should be some good times.

Wife and I were fishing off the point next to the swimming area over the weekend. We(she) caught a few nice trout and (me) a bunch of bluegill with a 15" sucker thrown in.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

I actually sent an email to the park office about this and here is what they told me. The boat rental prices I have from the Concessionaire are from last year, I do not know if the pricing has gone up. It looks like kayaks and canoes were $8.00 for the 1st hour and $4.00 for each additional hour; row boats were $10.00 for the 1st hour and $5.00 for each additional hour. Their telephone number is 724-513-6740; I’m not sure if they reserve in advance. From what katfishin says it looks like it may have gone up in price but that should help you ballpark the price at least. If nothing else you can call them and find out.

I know there are some eyes in there still but I have only caught one there in 10 years fishing Raccoon. Lots of small crappies though this time of year close to shore.

Theres a place a little further out on Rt 30, less than a mile past the park entrance on 30 called Floppin Fresh Fishery. It looks like its for sale and hasn't been open for a while.

There are 50" musky in this lake. As always you see atleast one picked up a year on Rooster Tails and trooling! As for walleye I haven't been able to catch any as well. The crappie bite would be your best at this time of a season. You may be able to pick up a trout or two, but be prepared to wait several hours. A 1/4 oz egg sinker with a floating jig and minnow will lead you down the right path. Keep you line tight and you'll have some action.

I went there last night and fished off the dam. I threw pretty much everything I had with no luck. Near the end of my time there I caught a decent sized rainbow trout off a night crawler and that was it.

I fished this lake ALOT in my tweens and twenties. I don't really have any desire to go sit and burn a few hours here anymore. The fish are too far and tween. The closed season really kills the crappie fishing (march 30th to Mid April) Ten years ago park was closed even more. I believe the month of Mar to mid April was a no go. There are a few decent spots PM I'll get you going.
