I just posted I like to read and listen to folks I think or feel know what they are talking about.. this guy obviously (IMHO) is just looking for his 15 mintues in the spotlight..

Regardless of what Evelands motives were all of his claims are a matter of public record for anyone who is open minded and cares to do a bit of reasearch rather than rely on what other people say. What Eveland did was pull all of the information together and put it into a comprehensive presentation that follows the history of herd reduction.
With the exception of his calculation of the herd status nearly all of the claims he made I had already read on the websites of the other folks involved. They were not trying to hide their involvement in the early days but in fact were very open about taking credit for it. It's only now after the back door dealings have come to light that they are trying to distance themselves from their original involvement and sometimes bogus claims.

You're gonna get some rising pulses and keyboard pounding for that one buddy.

Why? Id say Bings hit the nail right on the head. He was brought in to gain support from us for the deer plan. He was a "known" and charismatic guy, and did a fine job of doing that which was asked of him. I had originally supported the plan from day one, and alot of it had to do with Alts touring, articles etc.

It wasnt until later that i learned how obtuse some of his lesser known positions and statements were (see audubon site for some compilations). and by then we were well into the plan. Then when the failings of the plan itself became clear and the lies started to pile up like rotten fruit behind the grocery store dumpster... My support ended rather abruptly and decisively.

So yes, Alt did a great job of selling the deer program in the beginning. Not so much as a "deer manager" but that was never his intended primary role in the first place.

Why not ? The name Alt jacks yinz up.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Naw, we just get Alt and Yuk mixed up. Maybe it doesn't make any difference.

Secondly, wildlife management is not intended to be based solely on scientific principles. Management is defined as a mix of art and science.

Does he mean art as in, say fingerpainting?  Boy I am really confused now

Naa, not lil' Gare. I find him more comical than anything, now looking back. But i guess he really did hack some off, seeing as he had to wear a bullet proof vest and have bodyguards at meetings and all. Just because the "real" string pullers wanted HIM to soak up the venom. lol.

Alt may have been a pain in the rear, and annoying to some, and possibly not the "best friend" to sportsmen... but he was never the "real" malignancy within the agency. Hes been long gone for years now. The malignancy isnt.
