Never caught an eye in the lake part and I have been fishing there for 25 years. But I have always caught them at the spillway those ones come up from the river.

ORIGINAL: FishinGuy They stocked them for a few years but I've only caught one about 8" trolling crankbaits for crappie, I'm sure there's some in there but I've never heard a good report. you would think with all of the fish that have been stocked that there are nice eyes in there somewhere. i think i am going to have to put the boat on there and waste some gas. plus my old lady bought me a really nice fish finder for easter so maybe it will be able to find some eyes.

Walleyes not taking hold at Crooked Creek Lake The Fish and Boat Commission has been trying for years to establish a walleye fishery at Crooked Creek Lake. Their efforts are failing. Biologists have been stocking walleyes in the lake annually since 2006 — save for one year, when it got saugeyes, instead. But last week's survey gave a dismal snapshot of the water's walleye population. That's not necessarily unusual, said Al Woomer, the commission's Area 2 fisheries manager. Army Corps lakes, in particular, are tough to grow walleyes in, he said. And, since the stocking schedule already is set, the lake will get stocked with walleyes again this year. But the lack of fish may mean the end of the program after that. "I can't say for sure yet, but we're really going to have to look at it to see if we want to continue it," Woomer said. Hit up the spillway this morning. We did pretty good. A few big channel cats, 2 keeper crappie (and a bunch that we threw back), rock bass, and I caught nice smallmouth.

topwater....we got there at 5:45 and there were already 3 people there. As soon as they stopped letting the water out a couple of old timers left and when walking past us said that once they stop the water the bite dies....sure enough it did. Is that a coincidence or has anyone else ever expereienced that?

Yes the bite really does die when the water stops. The fish move and look for moving water. I fished the lake on Sunday morning. We caught 100 plus crappie and used 8 dozen minnows ! My buddy also caught a nice 19 inch 3 pound LMB.

I finally got out to the lake Sunday and Monday morning. Sunday fished from 6:00am to 9:30am. I caught probably 60+ crappy using 3 inch twister tail (no minnow). I could not get a keeper until I switched from chartreuse to white. I took home 14 crappy ranging from 11 to 13 inch. Monday went back at the same time to the same spot and caught just a few small crappy. Fish must have left. I did notice the water was 68° on Sunday and 72 on Monday. Fished the entire lake caught lots of small crappy, managed to get 3 keepers and a catfish.
