Crooked Creek

Called the park office number this morning and it said the boat ramp was open as of Monday 5/9.  Has anyone been out on the lake?  I'll probably get out later in the week.

The public boat launch courtesy dock will not be installed this summer. Instead a soft landing area to the upstream side of the launch ramp will be improved. Boaters will be able to gently beach their vessels for loading and unloading purposes. Also planned is installation of markers delineating the single lane ramp edges. This should allow more days the public boat launch will be open even with the changing pool elevations.

This is the statement listed in the 2011 Crooked Creek Lake web site. sam

The spillway has been very productive this year. My last outing there about 2 weeks ago produced 10 smallies, 1 crappie, and 1 large cat. Also saw a guy catch a 20 inch plus walleye.

Article in todays Trib on Crooked Crick Crappies.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The closer we adhere to the Holy Bible and the US Constitution (as it was written) the closer we get to the model that made America great. The great American experiment worked, human nature just got in the way.

We were fishing i believe was the lake, where the handicap dock access is. There are picnic tables right along the lake, we usually are at the second set by the trees and brush

Fished the outflow Tuesday caught 10 different species of fish, all were small. Except a couple smallies channels and one nice crappie. Shoulda fished the lake the levels look like it should be open again.

I fished the outflow Tues. evening caught 1 walleye, 1 LMB, 1 SMB, and around 50 crappie. Most of the crappie were smaller, 10 or 12 were nice keepers.

What do you consider a "keeper" ? I won't keep em under 10" and I'd personally love to see that lake as a panfish enhancement lake I saw a guy there on Saturday throwing some 6" crappie in his bucket. That's a little small for me

I'd like to see the state adopt a 9" minimum with a creel limit of 25 at the most!

I did not keep any of them but if I did, I would not keep anything under 9 to 10 inches. I would also like to see a creel limit.

I totally agree w a smaller creel limit but there's a lot of lakes that can't really support big crappie populations and a 6" fish is about all you'll get, plus some people like to use them as bait . But 25 over 9" would be perfectly reasonable at crooked creek.

They stocked them for a few years but I've only caught one about 8" trolling crankbaits for crappie, I'm sure there's some in there but I've never heard a good report.
