Mutant Stonefly dry
it's time for stoneflies. i'm not one to throw attractor patterns all day and like to match the hatch so i developed my own dry stonefly pattern. i figured i'd share it tis' the season.
birdup will vouch it works.

slightly bend hook at point to tie post at
base thread hook shank and tie in biots splitting tail
bring thread forward and tie in wing post just forward of shank bend
trim butts of wing post tapering towards tail for thin body. than wrap thread evenly over butts to tail.
tie in doubled up polycryolin or dub body
wrap polycryolin over thread wraps and complete with a few wraps in front of wing post.
trim polycryolin and dub a thorax just in front of wing post to stand it up.
tie in hackle. the trick with tying in hackle for a parachute is to tie it in as close to the post as possible behind and in front.
wrap hackle parachute style. trim and thread head.
