New Noise Maker

Got my new reel and boy is it loud. I thought the last one was loud but this is at an entire new level. Took it out the last 2 days and it performed great. The first day it did a great job of holding my line and looking bad asz. The weather was nice but I picked the wrong part of town. Couldnt find a player to save my life.

Today was a different story. Three inches of snow now covered the ground and that made me happy. Hopefully it will prolong the fish from going to gravel and scare off some of the local jokers. Fishe one of my best runs today with friends only. No jokers to be found.

Buddy joking asked me if I was going to fish blk with char head because thats the fly I almost always start with, and because water color was just asking for it. I decided to change things up some this morning. I went with blk and purple. He asked why. I told him because I love the way purple looks on fresh snow. Good enough reason to me.

As I thought the fly swam well and produced the first test of my new reel. Boy did this fish make her sing. A respectable fish, not big but not small either. I'd be happy with her any day of the week.

Second time through I popped a skip in about the same spot in the run. 2 passes 2 fish cant complain. Take a look at that fly all puffed out. That is the difference between a fly that is thrown together and a fly that is constructed.

With 2 under my belt I decided to switch flies. Went to something along the same color but a bit larger. I know the pattern concept works because I have hung a few on it in the past but this is a new color scheme for me. Working down in the gut of the run I get that tap tap tap. I say its on. Pull my rod to my bank and all I have is current. Alittle frustrating but thats swingn', Let the fish pull the loop supid! Withou moving my feet I let the fish hopefully reposition and give it a minute or two. Make the same cast and mend. Swim fly swim. Here it comes. On point the grab happens again, this time I do it right. Fish felt pretty good. Then head shakes that would blow your mind. I couldnt believe the thrashing. Few good runs more thrashing and she was mine. I thought that the fish I got with Sam was big but this one looked much bigger. On stream guests are saying 15 pounds around 33". Again, I dont know if she was that or not and I dont really care. All I know is that it was big. Somebody should invent something to meaure these fish with.
