Myself, Kid Rock, and the Beastie Boys refute any/all claims of responsibility. The bag said ecofriendly....and if it says it, it must be true.

Cold....If it were me snagging it would have said TENS of thousands of fish (and geese)....I've been snagging elsewhere.

On the real...the article says they were mostly shad....and it happens every year.

Every year at this time the Moon-eye (shad) spawn and wash up onto the shores. This is nothing new, and whoever fishes the shores this time of year should know it. I have watched them from the Cascade Creek side ever since I was a little boy. Don't worry people, the world is not ending just yet!lol....Oh and the gulls are a year round occurrence around the bay. Probably due to chemicals and/or just the fact that we have thousands and they DO tend to die after a while.lol

Best fishes to you and yours!!

Sorry folks I read the earliest (breaking news) fish kill report with the DEP going to investigate sounded pretty serious. Should have swallowed more pills and waited for them to take effect. I mean waited for them to take an effective look at the situation.

Just another case of some animal lovers concerned for a handful of dead animals that probably died naturally....You could walk around the banks of Erie every spring and find dead animals by the bucket full (Anytime period for that matter)...Some people just do not realize or are totally ignorant to the magnitude of the wildlife in and around Lake Erie. Always quick to push the ole' "Fish Kill" alarm!!

Everything that dies under or over the ice all winter gets pushed on shore in the spring when the ice melts

Maybe they are just dumb fish. They take a nap, wake up, and find themselves trapped in the ice. When they thaw out, they wash up on shore. Just a theory.

No big deal! You just reported what you heard or read. That's the way we share info. it just turned out to be an annual thing according to the posters. The TV and papers do tend to blow tings out of proportion.

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!
