Got out for a bit on Friday on the Ohio. Didn't take the boat because the wind was too strong. Even fishing from shore the wind was outrageous. No bites. Fished creek chubs.

The Allegheny is pretty ugly right now. I am chompin at the bit to get back down there once the water subsides and clears up a little.

I was out the 12th @ Sharpsburg and the 17th at Harmarville. Both were during the day with a high bright sun. No luck either trip, but I had a chance to talk with some nice folks and enjoy the day. When I left on the 17th (around dusk) there were about a dozen people there, on the 12th only 2 others. I didn't see anything caught either time - except one 10" mudpuppy. Everyone I spoke with had spoken with someone who said they caught some eyes recently. I took the dog down to Sharpsburg this past Saturday and the water was ~1' deep at the end of the tunnel. On a side note, I found some soft water Sunday and caught a few stockies. Chris

i do keep some occasionally, the walleye i catch there are very clean, the meat is snow white and is delicious, also keep a few sauger and crappie from the same area. there are parts of the mon i would not keep any from but where i catch them its a pretty clean part of the mon

I just started targeting eyes late last summer when I got my new(to me) boat. Have caught a few in the Allegheny, can't find them in the Mon. I fish the Mon out of Elizabeth, anyone do good there? I'm half afraid of parking my car at the McKeesport ramp lot.

I'll add the same thing about sauger, catch them in Allegheny, can't find in Mon. There's supposed to be more in the Mon than the All.

Was down at hpd saturday night. Tried the easy way through the tunnel only to the allegheny backed up almost halfway through the tunnel. Walked all the way around up to the dam itself and went out on the catwalk...needless to say it was terrifying. The backflow and water boils were incredible. Ended up casting the small backchannel a few times and decided to stop and just take in te power of the water comming over the dam. Its gonna be a while till the area is even remotely fishable. I dont suggest anyone attempt to go down there until its a little more safe. Reguardless it was a fun way to enjoy a nice night and get out and shake off the cabin fever.

If fish from shore on the mon, no need for a boat. There are a lot of sauger in the mon, I've had probably 15 fish days with sauger. There are plenty to go around in the mon and its tribs

How’s fishing in the Mon in the area where the Yough meets it? I came down river to give it a try once but that was a mistake. It was a weekend and packs of cigar boats were running up and down the Mon. The XS being a shallow water boat rides on top of every wave then drops like a rock. I headed right back up the Yough.

ORIGINAL: eyeassassin  Where on the allegheny are you fishing I tried from the point to Tarentum. All fish were caught in Harmar, but that was after the water cooled.

I've fished the Mon for last few years. The area around New Eagle and Mongahela have been the most productive in recent years. You might also consider trying Fayette City area as well.

I'm a poor college student no boat for me. I pretty much sit in the dorm all day and do nothing. Maybe go to the bar thats about it. I'm going to try the run right by where i live at when some fish go into the creeks. I tried fishing right by the campus once but never did any good. I'm always up for a nice guy to pick me up on his boat where the CalU campus is lol next year my house is 1/4 away from the mon i will be doing lots of fishing. One night i want to walk down there and just throw some catfish bait and see if i do any good. Drink some beer and watch the stars. Open invite for anyone who wants to attend lol. Nice fish Eye, I will def meet you down lock 3 sometime thats my stomping ground. Ed
