Released in "good shape", after there was a stringer run through it's lip?

Yup, that's what happened. I was going to keep him and changed my mind.

I thought this one looked a little like a blue. It was a few years ago from the Yough, about 24 pounds and 33 inches. He should be bigger by now - released in good shape.

The color of channel cats can vary greatly. It's a little bit difficult to tell, but it looks like there were a few spots on that fish. Blue catfish do not have spots on their bodies. Channel cats do. Additionally, the anal fin on blue cats is very straight. There is a curve to the anal fins of channel cats. You can also count the rays on the anal fin. Blues have 30-36 rays. Channels have 24 to 29.
