Fished Maxwell Locks Saturday night, only 1 walleye between 3 of us. Went to Lock 4 in Charleroi tonight and it was walleye after walleye on shiners and rapalas, really good night down there for me & my buddy.

I've fished the Mon from the point to WV and I've always done the best near Brownsville below the Maxwell dam.  It seems like the biggest smallmouth in the river are right below that dam.  I usually fish the Mon right around the Elizabeth dam nowadays because thats the stretch I know the best since I grew up in Elizabeth and I also work in Elizabeth.  I've seen alot of 30+ pound flatheads taken near the power plant right upriver from the Elizabeth lock and dam.  You used to be able to drive right to the warm-water outlet from the plant at one time, now you either have to sneak in or use a boat.  Some of the Carp in that area are simply huge.  If you ever get to the barge in Elizabeth and see some fool throwin buggers to the bass there around lunchtime, say hello, its me.

The smallmouth's at Maxwell = HUGE, I've caught them down there that would of made the guys of Bassmasters here a few years back jealous, they love the drop-off from the end of the wall down to the small point stickin out into the water, fish the drop off with any diving rapala and anything from smallies to saugers an walleyes, stripers, crappies to even freshwater drum will take it, tons of gar there in the summer that love shiners and it always fun to catch them cause their so hard to hook. We fish Elizabeth for cats in between the barge facility and the dam, never leave there without catching a catfish.

Trust me, they mark off where you can and where you can't go, if theres no barbed wire fences or no tresspassing US Government property signs, you can go there.
