Yeah, the bite isn't quite as good. I only caught 10 byrds in the 15-20 lb range in the first 20 minutes I was wadin'. Yep, just cookie cutter 35-40 inch types, nuttin special. They all look the same. I don't believe in camera technology or else I'd show ya. I caught one the size of a VW bug during the spawn, but dat type o' hit only happens for me bout 15 times a season. I might hook into a stray or somethin' in the Raystown/state record range before the season's over throwin' the ol' Banjo minnow though. That usually happens once or twice at the start of Ju-ly.

Yup. What's really fun is getting them on a fly rod. I never get tired of hearing somebody say "Oh, he was just in the right place at the right time, he'll never land it."

Their slack jaw as I weight the fish is good heart medicine! :)

Oops, this was in reply to TransAmWS6.

I was at Arthur Saturday morning and imagine that probably late Thursday or sometime Friday produced a really sad fisherman 'cause as I was wading the North shore and smelled decaying fish, a little poking along the shoreline produced a partially eaten big fish.

Based on experienced I figured it to be a Carp, but then I noticed the big mouth. Then the 2nd fish. Then the stringer that connected the two. Somehow, somebody lost their stringer with 2 hybrids attached, both looking to be at least legal size (20") if not more.

Then I caught my own! :)

I didn't expect much going out in the middle of the day so catfish were on the menu. They will bite anytime. It was more for the baby's first boat ride. Good to see ya, Chris. We need to get some fishing in.Thank you for the help with the beer Hans got a pic of about 100 Geese swimming single file by the swimming beach.Maybe that will get you pumped for Goose season.

I think I'm going to try them. I'm going to go with a circle hook on a float so the catfish don't get them all.

I've done good so far this year using crayfish on sm bass rock bass and carp. I just hook em once through the end of the. Tail and fish em under a float near bottom. Circle hooks work. But it seems like it takes em a few seconds to suck em down. Take the claws off the fish and your fingers won't mind a bit.

I went last night and tried for a late Striper but all we could manage was a big cat and carp. Smallie and LMB.

I went Saturday and Friday. I was out with a friend whose a cat fisherman and I really wanted to get him a striper so he can quit telling me channels are the best fighting fish anyways ran into a couple of guys wading at Barbers Point Surf Launch. I was wondering it says no fishing but can you wade out and fish? Also if anybodys fished there and had luck.

Fished LA Saturday night 5:30pm to 10pm, caught three keeper stripers smallest 21" biggest 26" and one 23" catfish. Great action, kept two and headed home, one was caught trolling the other two jigging. Lost two other hook ups but I was only using light tackle. As soon as I figure out picture posting I will post pictures. Tightlines. Ron

I heard it was a good spot from a guy that I occasionally work with, when I started chasing the Arthur byrds. One evening my father in law and I decided to swing in and check it out. When we got there, it looked like the mouth of Trout Run... I noticed the signs too, and wondered the same thing. Combining the two, we decided to go elsewhere. I haven't attempted it again, since I'd rather catch 1 or 2 in a bit of solitude.

They were catching them when we stopped by. I heard a few drags and fish were busting. It likely does make for a pretty good feeding flat, and fish seem to relate to changes in bottom type. Can't say that I know if it is legal or not, but there were at least 10 cars parked there, probably 15-20 guys who either thought it was, or didn't care... Probably a question to run past the park office before trying, if you are into community fishing.

Pretty sure I hit it in mid June. Most spots had at least a car or two that night. I would hope every night isn't like that!

They won't bother you down there wading at Barbers point. That used to be our go to spot till I got my boat five years ago. For whatever reason it didn't produce the last two years like it used to though.

What kind of date big guy?

Just kidding. That was too hard to pass up.

I'm going to try boat a few byrds one day this weekend, likely early morning or evening. Too much going on to do the night thing, I have a hard time being productive the next day when getting home at 3-4AM.
