First time trying to post pic. Can someone confirm if this is a striper - hybrid - wiper??? Was fishing for perch and crappie and this nearly ripped the rod out of my hand - lol.

Both hybrids. You can see the broken lines along the sides. Very nice catch.

Anybody getting into spawning Walleye yet at Arthur? With the season a few weeks away, was curious if any of you crappie/pike fisherman have hooked into a shallow walleye or 2 yet?

"Anybody getting into spawning Walleye yet at Arthur?" Probabley another week or so yet. If the warmer forecast after thursday holds out. I'd say mid next week, or the weekend after this.

Hey guys, I see that you guys are seasoned lake Arthur fishermen so I was wondering if you could help me out. Ive heard that night fishing for wipers up in Arthur is pretty good especially if you use alewives. I was wondering if you guys could possibly confirm this? Also when do most guys start fishing at night up there for them, my buddy and i were looking to do a little night fishing if it was good and we don't live close to the lake so we were just trying to find a good time to start heading up and giving it a shot. Thanks guys for all your help and good luck out there.

If you are close by I would start trying the toward the end of the last week of April, or firt week of May. Otherwise I'd wait till mid-late May. Depending on water temps, and the mood of the fish ( they seem to come up with a new quirk every year ). The early season bite can be very hit, very miss, or somewhere in between. Unless we have a dramatic rash of cold weather before hand ( cold fronts really impact the "early bite" ). The 3rd week of May will start to see plenty of action from both Alewives, and Stripers.

Absolutely no truth to the fact that there are wipers and alwives in Arthur; seriously spoonchucker pretty well nailed it.

I've been fishing Cross Creek because it's close by and a carp fisherman hooked a 28" walleye on a doughball fishing the shallow flat portion of the northeast shore...I guess that would be a good clue that they started to move at Croos Creek so I thought maybe the Arthur eyes were starting too. Let us know what you find crappie. Maybe I'll take a drive up there too this weekend.

I didn't head down there. But everywhere else I went yesterday, the floating docks were at a 35-40 degree angle from the water being so high.

Went out for a couple hours this evening just to enjoy this nice weather. Got enough crappies for a meal or two and picked up three jumbo lake Erie sized perch. I thought perch weren't supposed to bite after dark? I'm tired of this wind...

I've been using minnows mostly. Went out this morning and found some crappies. Caught a few of them minnows and some on marabou jigs with nightcrawlers.
