OH my thats rough. Well good luck . Easy pickings when you find those boiling pots of alewifes busting the surface

I still find ways to make it out. Not much more adreniline producing fishing in the area, than a wiper taking a surface offering exploding a pod of alewifes. I am fine with getting them in deeper water (or at least trying), and not getting home so late. That said, I'm usually waking up about the same time I would be coming home from the night action.

I was also out last night and caught 3 largemouths and 2 stripers about 16" and 23" the action is really slowing down.

The one I lost was well over 20". The little guy almost made me think that I had just hooked some seaweed Haha but the next two nights will be prime time around 12 or so with the moonlight peaking

Can't seem to get the bait past the stripers and to the walleyes anymore. My five year old got his first one yesterday evening, which he was pumped about. I thought I was losing a rod, but he held on and brought it in himself.

Man sounds like your doing a lot better than the rest of us. I can not only not catch a striper on an alewife but can catch a carp on it

Chris,

No photo. I still can't find my camera. I have a feeling it was left on the side of the boat one night and didnt make it home. But I'm definately not telling the old lady that. I'm about ready for the summer, lazy fishing. I'll be in touch. We can hit the cats and stripers one of these evenings. I got the worms, you bring the minnows, if you still have some.

What's really weird is that I saw a guy with his daughter (about her age) in a boat like that in nearly exactly the same place your pic was taken (unless my eyes are fooling me) being dragged around (literally) by what turned out to be a big Hybrid- almost 10 years ago!!

Anyone have any suggestions on spots to go to to catch a lot of bluegill, perch, crappies and large mouth bass. I will be taking kids out and want to keep them entertained. Haven't fished Lake Arthur in 20 years. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

jmay75 go anywhere along the road bed. Or if you launch at 528 fish around the bridge piers for bluegill.

Fished Lake Arthur two times in the last two weeks. Not one fish? Fished yesterday. Bass jumping everywhere, no hits. 3 guys in my boat and 5 guys in another boat fished a cove all night. We saw the other boat catch 1 fish. Is August just really slow, or do we suck?

Alewives were everywhere making it look like it was raining. Whats the best lure to use when the Alewives are everywhere and the bass are jumping.

Thanks

Nope - we were at lost cove and across the lake from Lost cover. On a pontoon though.

Looked like it was raining alewifes. Hard to compete with all of them I guess. No one hit.

Fished hard today and caught nothing but 1/2 of a dozen catfish.  We marked a lot of fish suspending in 20 - 25 foot of water well below the thermocline.  That and the algae bloom have us wondering if the lake is trying to turn already.

Anyone happen to have the water temp of the lake? I'm guessing the rain earlier in the week, and this snap, has it lowered a bit.
