This year has stunk for us, but we've been trying some new spots all year. I think we're gonna try one more spot and if we don't find some eyes, just give up and fish for bass, pike, crappies. Has anyone done well this past week?

I don't ice fish, but focusing on eyes in Arthur is a pretty rough endeavor. I've spent a good 200 hours of trolling specifically for them, with nothing. Reading books and trying every technique that I could think of, and nothing. I have been able to get very few when targetting wipers during their summer late night bite (but just about every fish capable of eating an alewive can be caught then). Other than that, I have no idea! I wouldn't feel too disappointed if you don't pull any out. It seems to be a pretty common thing to guys that I talk to on the lake and on here. There are definitely some guys that have figured it out though.

Good luck, hopefully you crack the code.

In the boat, I've got them figured out for three months of the year or so. But on the ice, I have no clue.

Was looking for some reports on the lake and a general place to target. looking to catch crappy and walleye. Also, what kind of set up to use and bait, jigs. Any help would be appreciated. trying to bag my first fish this winter. you can PM me or respond. Thanks

Anyone use a camera on the ice at Arthur? Mine seems to be worthless from the boat. Not sure if that has anything to do with the ice maybe slowing down the wind mixing the water, or is it just a stained lake year round?

Again, not ice fishing experience wise, but you might be better odds with crappie and walleye at Pymie. I have seemed to at least figure out a few crappie every time there, nicer average size in my experience there too. I only have the river eyes figured out, and that's only for about 3 months of the year. At least with Pymie, you can usually run into a few guys with better on the water/dock reports than Arthur for eyes, which at least keeps the spirits up... Pretty sure the large mouth population in Arthur is better than Pymie. I seem to pick up a few every time that I target panfish, wipers, walleye, or actually targetting them. Definitely saved me from a few skunkings and added some nicer fish to otherwise dink only days.

If you have a GPS, you can get it on a chip as well to show exactly where you are. Navionics has a computer program that shows lakes. You can print your own map from it or plan your trip on the computer. If you are looking for 4-5 lakes, and they are on that program, it might be worth it? I have the GPS chip, so the lakes might be different. The GPS has Arthur, Pymy, and a bunch of other PA lakes.

Bighead - just curious from another post. What kind of dog do you have? I know of a dog with the same name, which can't be too common... You don't drive a Blue Tundra do you?

Bighead - Different puppy then, the one I know is a boxer. Cool name though. Probably another yellow icacle day today!

There is a map on the PFBC site. It doesn't show contour, but does show where they sank trees, rocks, ect. It has GPS coordinates, but seems to be off when I tried to find a few.

The creek channel is better early and late in the day when they're on the move.

Sounds like a great day. My girlfriend has been going with be but all we can catch is small gills. We have been up MC arm and at the mouth of Shannon on church side. Are we in the right area or should we try elsewhere? I would like to see her catch some fish so she doesn't loose interest. PM if you would like to share more info. Thanks
