Bing's Bomber
Been doing well with this streamer this winter.
Thought I would try a tutorial for it..
Any critiques are welcome..
I tie this in a Brown version also with a furnace hackle for wing and fox squirrel..
Recipe..
Hook---Mustad #8 3xl streamer hook
Tail & underbelly----Grey Squirrel Tail
Eyes---x-small barbell eyes (black)
Body---Black/Blue synthetic dubbing
Over wrap--Red medium wire
Wing/back--Black Hackle feathers
Tail Flash---Red Krystal Flash
1. Tie on the eyes on the top of the hook (so it rides hook point up in the water). Be careful getting to close to the eye. Drop of super glue on the back of the eyes helps hold them in place.
Then run your thread to the tail.
2. Select a piece of Grey Squirrel tail about the length of the hook.
Tie it in at the tail. I like to wrap forward on the hair clear to the back of the eyes. Helps build the body.
3. Wrap in the red wire and leave it loose off the tail.
4.Tie in 4 strands of red Krystal flash. Two on either side. Trim it just a little shorter than the tail.
5. Dub in the body with the Black/Blue synthetic dubbing.
6. Wrap the red wire forward through the dubbing and ending behind the eyes.
7. Select another piece of Grey Squirrel Tail as long as the hook.
Tie this in on top of the hook for the underbelly. I run the Squirrel tail forward of the eyes to help fill it in and to help form a small head. Tie down is behind the eyes and in front of the eyes.
8. Tie in the hackle feathers, one each side, under the eyes.
9. Paint the head all Black with nail polish and dot the eyes with some white.
