Dars..
sorry to hear about the lack of interest in the youth pheasant hunting, maybe part of it is an area thing... or maybe the reserve thing.. I don't know !!
but an offer like that in this area where the PGC stocks pheasants .. I'd have you some many kids you could not handle it....
thankfully there are guys here that do offer their time and dogs for the youth hunt.. I must say it GETS CROWDED.... they kind of hunt in shifts...
One youth event at the club that had a full house was when the local WCO and the PGC donated the materials for bluebird boxes and gave a presentation on bluebirds... answered any questions about wildlife.. then built boxes.. I still hear kids thanking and talking about that event..
maybe something for some of you involved in groups to think about doing if your local WCO is up to it ....
another was shooting muzzleloaders... they really LOVED that
and many come to the DVD and VCR movies about hunting and fishing that I show at the sports men's meeting.. our last one was the CNBC program about the "dangers" of the Remington 700 series rifle mis-firing...
I'll keep trying the best I can.... there's just too many split, divorced, or single parent (MOM) families around here... I still will say that may be reason ONE for lack of interest in many of today youths.. they live with Mom and see Dad once in a while and he's too busy for outdoor stuff....
