Ice is here...

The lake has officially frozen over in my town today!
And I thought it was a cat walking on it at first glance, but it was
just a curious bald eagle stopping into town to take a gander.

    Not sure where you live......but my small pond had a skim layer of ice on it this morning. I am in northern crawford county, north of Meadville. Looks like it will burn off fast today, but it seems like the water temp is certainly cold enough. Can't wait........

    I am in Minnesota  :-)
    I tried to sneak up on the bird yesterday morning to get a picture, but it caught a glimpse of me and took off.

    I won't rub it in that much. It has been raining here all day borderline freezing. It is suppose to start cooling off this evening and for as long as the forecast is predicting. Hopefully these next 10 days are going to lock it up good. I know some people were venturing out onto smaller lakes and ponds this past weekend around here that had 4-5" of ice. I however am not that impatient. I know that Minnesota has plenty of ice fishing months ahead. I would REALLY like to make it back to PA this winter to fish a few of my hometown hot-spots through the ice...or even venture to Erie or Ontario to hit some fish through the ice.

    4 or 5 inches? I would dance a jig on three, 2 if its nice clear black ice

    ....i better drag out the portable and air it out....check the line...find the jigs (nevermind, they are at my parents house in PA..DAM*IT!!!) and get the propane tank filled.

    drove by the one lake in town, and there were a few flip-over and pop-up shelters out there for this evening. Thought I would take two shots with the camera to get some of you excited (or more) for the season to come!
