Big MUSKY!!

Hey guys, I was fishing a bass tournament on mahoing dam this past weekend when this thing ate my jig.  After an epic battle I got him to the boat and got a quick picture and released him.  I had a coleman cooler that is 36" wide and he was about 4 or 5 inches wider than it on each side, i figured he was somewhere in the 44" range.   I also had another one later in the day follow my bait to the boat, I am not a musky fisherman but any of you guys that are should check out mahoning dam it hardley gets any pressure from any fisherman and there looks to be some good fish in there!

OH! Shes a beauty! congrats dude! I was bassfishing a few weeks ago on gledale dam and i had a tidal wave come up behing my buzz bait and BAM!!!! big musky about that size i would say hit my lure and started pulling like a freight train! fought it for about 30 seconds till its teeth sliced through my line. Now i got a FEVER and the only cure is MORE MUSKY! im gonna check that place out! looks nice!

    Mahoning dam near New Bethlehem?

I've had two on there, but due to an inexperienced net man lost them both at the boat . Nice fish!

How'd ya do on the bass?

With the black hats down there I'm surprised you could catch any bass. Crappie have been decimated in there...

Haven't fished there in a couple of years, but I'm gonna say yes it's still 10 hp. That lake being a flood control project can DRASTICALLY change pool levels with a good storm, I've been there when you could barely navigate because of all the logs and trees floating. Next time you're there look up in the trees and see how high the water has been, pretty amazing stuff...

Yes, it is still a 10hp lake, it actually is more like a slow moving river... as bulldog said, it is a flood control project. They dammed up Mahoning creek...
2 wks ago there was a huge amount of floating debris near the lower launch, don't know what it's like now.
If you use the upper launch be prepared to put up with it smelling like a barn stall... and not in a 'nice fresh hay' kind of way!
Why is it that we are required to clean up after our dogs but they can do that to an area and nothing be done about it?
    Oh well...
and by the way, last year we were stopped on the water there by an Army Corp guy to check the boat... we were OK, but remember that boats under 16ft mean you wear a life jacket! Army Corp lakes have their own set of rules.

Cool catch and something to remember Jeremy! Doesn't look to be a mid 40s fish to me though....judging by the photo, my guess would be 40 at best. The Mahoning Resevoir is known to hold some nice muskies. Congrats on that one!
