Aren't 4 miles of ladders a litle long? Will you be able to fish in them? What kind of bait will work best? How far up will the fish be after the ladders are in?

I can't believe this is actually happening. They should be able to get upstream a long ways now. Only if they could do something about sixmile, I would have fish in my backyard.

I dont really know much about the lower end of 4 mile or fish ladders even...but would the project be extensive enough to put fish in say the wintergreen gorge? That sure would be some beautiful water to fish for steel.

If they would blow up their dam/fall Im 100% positive that the fish would make it the four miles to my house.  The six mile county park would have 1 or 2 miles of creek that would be open to public but they would have a mile hike in which would deter some. Think of middle 20 mile. thats what its like.

Since the steelhead rarely get to the dam anymore, at least the last five years, this won't really do much good.  It will provide for some revenue for
the WCO writing citations to folks fishing near the ladders when the steelhead do get up to them.

You may get a few fish up the ladders, but won't be any huge numbers,
IMO.  If the numbers on the east side continue like last fall, might be a handful.  Similar to the steelhead in the creek at Downing Golf Course.
I hope I'm wrong, though, and it goes back to the pre-2003 type runs,
but I'll be really surprised if it does.  I'll be at Wintergreen Gorge waiting.

Wasted money (400K).  Ten years ago the ladders would have been great, probably when the study was done.  Just my opinion. Dredging 12 mile out, which has been reduced to a small ditch, opening up the mouth of 16 mile, or adding some holes to 20 mile would be more worthwhile.   I wonder if they put counters on the ladders.  Naw, they would be embarrassed.

Hey Pete, do you know what happened to 12 Mile at the mouth?  Fished it for the first time two years ago, and it was vastly different last year and this year.  Was that natural, or was someone dumping fill in there by the mouth?

Just natural.  It's even worse now. All the area between the wall and the tunnel has been filled with rocks and there is a little ditch of water running between them. I don't know why so much came washing down the creek this year. There used to be some nice holes about halfway between.  I haven't seen a fish at 12 mile this year.
