man what kind of spoons?? We tried 3/4 oz weedless spoons, different colors and also a Johnson minnow silver spoon same size.  Tried a Yum Dinger Texas rigged. Tubes, fat cats, Top waters, spinner baits, buzz baits, cream "Brand" worms, moss boss, krocks and cleos and lots more, lol.

I threw the box at em this evening....rapalas, jitterbugs, buzz baits, spinnerbaits....

The only thing that produced were the cleos. I'm burnin em right under the surface. I caught lm, sm, and gar.

Cleos...2/5 oz

From my limited experience....I have seen small schools of gar.

Never saw any schools of northerns...multiple fish in one area, but never a "school"

I choose Little Cleos

Seen a video on youtube of some guys fishing for gar down south with a section of rope. They fray the ends and the rope get tangled up in their teeth when they attack it. I'm going to try it down the river here pretty soon. Check it out, let me know what you think.

When I lived in RI we snuck into Chepachett (sp) Res.  fishing.  I had never fished water so clear in my life. There we saw what I had only heard of Northern Pike in schools.. There weren't a ton of them but there were about 6 or 7 from what I can remember just cruising the shallows.

Slick, when I was younger I caught hundreds of those things off of the "platform" behind Smitty's. A bobber and a minnow up high, let them take it awhile. I saw 3 gar in the trib I fished on Sunday.
