I wouldn't mind doing that again. We used to get them out from Shades Beach in 30 foot of water with tube jigs. It's been awhile. Nothing like hooking one on the bottom in 30 feet of water and see it explode out of the water 2 seconds later. Man those things can fight!

After slicks fishing performance friday night I dont think anyone should be worried about him catching the new state record .

And I guess 6point7 is the nascar god of the week?

Jennie, If that fish measured 23 inches I would say it was at least 7 lbs, maybe 8. I have a 22 incher on my wall that was certified at 7 lbs 3 oz.  NICE FISH!

That is an awesome fish.  We saw you two fishing that day off the swim platform Sat.  The PA officers checked you right after they checked us.  Just an fyi I bet that truely did break the state record at 23".  I caught a 21" that weighed exactly 8# the day before in the same area.

That is a great fish you have there! Thanks for the message too. The fish commission officers were very nice by the way. I remember seeing you guys fishing next to us. I have caught a 7 lb fish up there and I am starting to think that we made a mistake! Well at least we have the pictures and that fish is swimming in the lake for someone else to catch. It had some kind of red tumor growing on the side of the gills so when it breaks the record we will know that it was the fish she caught!

no doubt in my mind...that fish is well over 7# and probably 8#.

Just showed that pic to my wife and she had the same thought I did.  It would have been in the livewell for a trip to Walnut to get weighed...and then right back to the lake with her.

at least 8 or more, look at the 12 pound largemouth some guy caught on the other thread.
looks like a bluegill compared to this smallie. not to take anything away from the largemouth, but
    it sure looks smaller.

I would bet any amount of money that fish is on or above the current state record. She is only going to get bigger, to be honest I would have brought her home.  Mind sharing the magic lure of the day?
