Yep, there lake trout. Can't argue those facts. ORIGINAL: Cold ORIGINAL: DJ2007 Hence they are rainbow trout in a lake, not a steelhead strain. So they're Lake Trout? They do not spend the majority of there life in a GREAT lake or the ocean, so therefor not a steelhead strain. Idunno man, Loyalhanna Lake is pretty great. They probably don't even spawn, then alone return to the stream (HATCHERY) where they were born. Hence they are not a Steelhead strain Um....wow...

I was at Loyalhanna yesterday I was casting 20+ feet (after I cut down some trees so I did not have to stand under them after catching 4 dozen trout and humiliating some guys next to me who were roll casting nymphs(ha!) I landed this taimen on a 62x midge on 23x tippet I guess they run in the spring can somebody tell me what kind of strain it is ? I am guessing it is the Amur river basin varietal

Nice Taimen. I caught one in Chartiers Creek on a 24/0 baby duck pattern. Just like these: The Taimen are drawn to the I-79 bridge and the french-fry-grease release from Char Valley high school.

Those are the hands of my shirpas I would not stoop so low as to handel a fish. Unspeakable! Fly floatant is for the peasant masses. I only use a vial of Izaak Walton's saliva perserved by Anglican priests form St. Albans on the river test. I use 45 foot leaders to take these fish also

just_wanna_fish do the silicone milfs make it down to the lake or do they stay upstream ? They are upstream a ways, you have to use liquor to get them away from their spawning partners. I prefer Jack Daniels in a small glass, use a barbless hook, too

is the jack daniels good for the younger milfs ? i always seem to hook up the older ones they dont put up much of a fight they hit on the first line then just let you reel them in. the younger ones have a lot of fight in em you can play them a while they seem like they are over fished i have seen 5 guys all throwing lines at one young milf then they all went home empty. as you said I always use barbless hooks when milfing. one time i accidently hooked a huge milf i let the line go slack and she just slipped the hook thank god

Gonna try for Yough steelhead and burpits tomorrow heard they already made it to the outflow area in the mornings but once the sun comes up the Fayettenamese come out in force with walmart tigerspins and clear them out. Can't see them either with those Hoss's camo hats and bud light t-shirts THAT WHY.
