Sabiki Rigs for perch
When using half (3 hooks) on a sabiki rig for perch do you add a minnow? I know you just use them plain for baitfish I just wondered if adding a little flash to the minnow or a little meat on the hook helps? I was going to try MUSTAD PISCATOR RIGS - SABIKI - SIZE 6 Thanks, Marty

We use three hooks and three emeralds most of the time. I sometimes use a 2.5" berkley gulp minnow on the bottom hook when the freakin' stupid****gobies decide to decend on the perch pack. The gulp takes a pounding with repeated gobie assaults without comming off so I don't go through a ton on emeralds on junk. Oh yea, the perch seem to hit the gulp fairly well also.
I got a bunch of French military rifles for sale...NEVER fired and only dropped once.

i use one hook for half an emerald shiner, then a grub, then usually a chunk of fillet of whatever creature we catch first(silver bass, white perch, gobie, smelt)they are a cool rig though, mi like the the little fly on them, wonder if they catch trout?

Finally bought one of those things the other day after hearing all the talk about them. How do you guys rig them? Cut 'em in half? Weight on the bottom?

Those things are amazing in Florida, I could get 20 bait fish in 5 minutes and sometimes spanish mackeral on on them. I used my baitfish for sharks down there in Naples

The best we have seen so far is the Glow Fish Skin S-550E size 10. The skin glows as well as the head. We use one at time due to the cost and we have not found it better to use more than one at time on a perch rig. With one on my rig usually the middle hook, I'll out fish my buddys 4 to 1. I know of only one place in town that carrys those. The shop on the east side by the old Harborcreek mall.

Gander and Wally World don't carry them in PGH & I did not find any at FishUSA.com so I bought 10 Mustad Model 2732 Sz 8 Piscator Sabiki Rigs for just under $13 and 2 Packs of TSUNAMI FLUOROCARBON SABIKI RIGS size 4 for $5.59 on ebay including shipping. I should be able to try them at Kinzua next week but won't be surprised if I come close to getting skunked up there. Hope to have my boat in Erie the week after that for a day or 2.

If they work any better than a crappie rig I won't be fishing them with my brother-in-law. He was ready to toss me over the side on Sunday, the perch were practically jumping in my lap.

The TSUNAMI FLUOROCARBON SABIKI RIGS size 4 arrived today. They are actually a Japanese size 4 that is probably equal to an American size 10 or 12 Their sizes run the opposite of ours and I wish I bought size 8 or something around our 4 to 6

Marty , quick question ! how long have those riggs been in existance? I have been tying that kind of rig for at least 20 years now. Its easy to tie. My gramps showed me how to tie it and Ive been tying it ever since. Im going to guess thats where he learned to tie them but I dunno. I only go 2 no more than 3 rigs off the verticle line.

Just know some of those Sabiki rigs tangle like a b**** and they are sharper than s***. But they are amazing for catching bait in Florida! Never thought about perch fishing with them. Let us know how they do.

how long have those riggs been in existance? No idea I bought some about 10 years ago on a fishing pier down south to catch baitfish-I pretty much forgot about them until recently. I paid under $3 each for the 5 or 6 hook rigs and split them in half for PA. It is not the double or triple drop that I was looking for, it is the "decorated" hooks. Now I have some small red heads and smaller glow in the dark green heads. I am buying #4's next WHY DO I NEED 10 TO 50 OF ANY LURE THAT JUST POPS INTO MY HEAD THAT I NEED THEM NOW?????????? OCFLB Obsessive Compulsive Fishing Lure Buying Who else wants to co-chair a support group?
