Yes it gets very crowded with pleasure boaters and jet skis. Get there early and get off it before around 11. You can also fish the no wave zone after the pleasure boaters and jet skis get out there.

Crooked Creek was my favorite local lake.. Rarely fished it on a summer weekend cause of the crowds, Great weekdays after work. or early spring or fall  There is a shallow mud and stump shoal to the left of the ramp cove that keeps water skiers out but if you know where the old creek channel runs you can get to some fishable water on weekends.  Go slow and tip the engine up

Try the creek...there's access above the lake as well as below. It's easily waded and has a good smallmouth population as well as a muskie or two for those  who don't mind a bit of walking. Bait shop right on rt66.  check out mapquest or the Pa gazetteer for the exact spots where you can get in.  good luck!

I was there today too until about 11:30, launched the boat at 5:30am. 5 nice bass one was in the 4 pound range. It was a great day to fish the weather chased away all the jet skis and pleasure boaters !

I haven't been able to do too well at that lake. Everyone says its a good bass lake but I can't seem to find em. Did catch a nice catfish in the cove on a minnow. It might have weighed 7 lbs.
I like the lake, outside of jet skiers and pleasure boaters. I just need to find the bass.

Been awhile since I've fished there. There's bass, walleye, musky, catfish, panfish and sheephead to name some. Access is at the dam, from Rt 66 take Crooked Creek Dam Road to the second left Outflow Road. At the bridge on Rt 66 north of there. Also just north of the bridge on left Paradise Beach Road. Just before the bridge on the left is the old road where you can park. Don't know the lower reaches of the creek.

Watch out for poison ivy if you go to Paradise Beach Road. I have got it everytime I go there.

The gas company is fixing the line that crosses the stream below the USGS station and the wire.  They've constructed a coffer and had pumps running so the heavy machinery could dig out the damaged pipe.  The years of leaking gas has left the sediment saturated and it will take some time for the stream to recover.  I was there on Thursday and the stench was terrible.  Everything below the coffer was dead: Milfoil, mussels, nutsedge, everything.  I know the pipe needed fixed as it's been leaking for years, but I would like to think they could have been a little more environmentally sensitive.   I did take a few snapshots of a northern water snake and two queen snakes.

Just came back from the lake, the water is up a couple of feet. The WCO said the Corps is letting less water out so that the lake will come up so that the surveyers can get thier boat up the creek to check the siltation level & try to figure out how to get the channel a little deeper as it is very hard to get up now due to the silt coming in.I can't see them spending money to dredge it with all the budget cuts. For those that fish up that way,a new owner took over Hamms bait shop. It is now called (The Happy Camper) ph.# 724-568-4396. They have it set up basicaly as before, bait including shiners,& crawlers, also fresh subs etc. BTW I did get a few cats tonite, tried live shiners with no luck, then smashed the shiners & started to get the cats.Very few guys out.   sam

I was there also from about 4-30-8pm did well on the cats, didn't try for bass cause it was so windy most of the time. was alone most of the time, saw 1 boat across from the beach but couldn't tell how they were doing. The park ranger had to go down to the log boom on the other side to chase some kids from the restricted area, they were trying to walk across the beams, which wasn't working out too well.  sam

At that bait shop did they also rent boats? If they do what are the rates. I was at that lake 1 time with a friend that drove so am not sure if I could find it again.
