Camera help

Need a little help.  My digital camera got wet.  Have any of you "revived" one by drying it out or am I wasting my time?  I have revived my cell phone many times but the camera might not come back.  Any help would be appreciated.

I'm afraid that the water got in the lens.  From nothing,I can now see the stored pictures and all that, but when I try to go to the picture taking mode, the screen becomes blank and the flash will not work.

On to the rice thing though,  do you put it in a ziplok with the rice and seal it?

DO NOT turn it on wet

Pull the batteries and let it dry for a few days
put it inside in a low humidity enviro for a 4 or 5 days

get new batteries and then fire it up

Leave it on the dash of your car.

Hairdryer, rice, dashboard, any place with a good source of dry heat.  Take the battery out and leave it out till you can be sure there's no moisture.  I shook mine against my hand a few times to dislodge any water that was trapped inside.  Then hairdryer, and dash of my car wrapped in a bandanna.  Worked for both my phone and my camera.

DO NOT USE A HAIRDRYER!!! i take photography classes at my school and they taught us to put it in a big bowl of rice! I got my soaked from fishing in a thunderstorm (forgot i had it in my bag) and i set it in some rice for 2 days took it out and worked fine except the display wasn't as great but it works fine

I have one I left in the ice fishing bucket for about a week. when I got it out it was in about 3 inches of water. I let it dry out and the camera worked but every time I changed temps. it would fog the lens.  Then about a year later I left it on the floor of my jeep during a thunders storm and once again it was soaked. I just let it dry out but this time even the lens dried out and it is working fine.  The first time I did turn it on as soon as I found it .   Now the bad part is I am a photographer by trade and this is how I treat cameras.

Put the camera in a ziplock bag with rice then put it on top of your waterheat. Make sure you take the battery and memory card out.

For what it's worth...as much as I hate to admit it, the old pro had a point. Doesn't work all the time, but I sent an iPod through a full wash & tumble dry cycle. Threw it in rice and let it set for a few weeks, and I still use it every day at work.
