crooked creek lake

I just talked to the ranger about lowering the water to its normal level which is 845' or lower, this makes easier shore access for shore fishermen & also eliminates the poss. of fish laying thier eggs only to have the water drop & losing a year class of crappie. This also happens in the river occasionaly. It is forcasted to be in that range for tommorow if the rain doesn't screw it up again. That is the drawback in fishing flood control res.. For those that don't know when the elevation is 850' or over they normaly close the beach road as part of it will be underwater & debris will be on the road. Also he told me that they should be putting the NO WAKE bouys in next week. Although the area from the beach to the log boom is a NO WAKE ZONE year round, some guys need a reminder. The 6' sign at the launch is not big enough I guess.  sam

I could not wait until they put the no wake bouys in, on Friday I was over by the beach area and had a power boat blow past me while I was fishing.
The bouys will help to control that. Although there are still idiots who ignore the bouys. Plus the **** jet skis will be out soon enough.

I live 5 miles from the lake and you couldn't pay me to deal with the recreational boating traffic on that lake.

I cannot believe there are no HP restrictions on that lake.

I lived about 5 miles from the lake too on the dime road.

I agree the lake should be a 20hp lake. Seems like every year someone gets hurt there. I know there was a guy killed on a jetski a couple of years ago.

avidangler,It usualy is not too bad on the no wake side. There was talk a few years back of a few guys trying to get a petition going to put h.p. restrictions on the lake. If it ever happens it is on the few boneheads that have no consideration for others as usual.   sam

Army Corps does their own thing.  Tionesta Resevoir is the same way although I think it is a bit wider than Crooked Creek.

they should do something about it...i dont know why people insist on taking speed boats out there it takes about 2 min to go the entire way across the lake then they have to turn around and come back..doesnt exactly sound fun to me..plus i dont even have a nice boat at all but i still am extremely cautious out there because of all the stuff that is floating around that you could hit in that lake...thats why i usually try to stay away from the lake on weekends and most of the time ill just go to the backwaters to get away from all of the idiots flying around on the lake

I don't know of any Army Corps Lake that isn't unlimited h.p. It's crazy on the Small ones. I may be wrong though, Is Woodcock a Army corps lake?

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!

Conemaugh River Lake is electric only and Mahoning Creek Lake is 10 hp.  Woodcock Creek Lake is USACE and is 10 hp.  Might be a few others that are not unlimited.
