Why catch little trout when you can be on a steelie stream in a few minutes?
    You still live in Erie?
The creek should be at or near normal level and fishable for this time of year. Blackstones should be picking up soon.

Isn't Oil Creek closed to fishing until the trout opener ??I know it is here.

I think its more of a challenge catching fish on oil in the dh areas than it is catching steelies.  Yea I still live in Erie, about 100 yrds from upper walnut.

It is still moving fast but it is fishable. I'm going as soon as I get a chance.  Saturday for sure  J.T.

    Krott,
You are right about  it being more of a challenge.
Usually by this time of year I've had more than my fill of steelheading, anyway.
    Time for a change.

C'mon Dano, you know the challenge lies at South Branch on opening day.  Better plant the stick Friday evening.

Finally got there today.. Caught 22 trout on just about every nymph I had, sizes 14 to 16. Biggest was aprox 15 inches. smallest 10 inches. Water was clear and came down alot since I checked it on  Tuesday. Some stone flys comming off , and didn't see ANY rising fish at all. If the rain holds off tonight...tomorrow will be really good.  J.T.
