crawler harness for walleye
What are the preferred ways of doing crawler harnesses? Length of harness? Leader length? Any weight above the harness when using a diver or a dipsy? Any one use Erie deery's behind a diver , dipsy or alone? Any other ideas? Thanks

I tie my own, get some good 30lb test line, double hook them slide 7 #6 beads then a blade,7 more beads an another blade all on a 6'to7' leader from the snubber off the dipsy,go get some of the noodles you see kids at the swimming pool beating each other with cut them in 12" lenghts add golf tees on the top and wrap harness around noodle. no weight between harness and dipsy, dipsy will do all work,go buy one at poorrichards cut it apart so you can see how the knots are made, never used erie deri's off dipsys always used harness or spoons or shallow running cranks.everything you need you can get at Stamnia inc.com,beads,blades,line,cleveses,hooks or go to the bait shop and pay inflated prices for your hardware. One more word of advise buy good sharp #2/0 octypuss hooks Gamakatsu's. This should get you started in the right direction GOODLUCK

Gander, Poor Richard's, BAC all have pre-tied wire varieties that we prefer. Just stand up better under wear and tear. GOT TO HAVE: black and purple and watermelon w/ copper cup on the blade.

lime green harnesses and pink and purple harnesses are a few colors that work at times. Although I've never tried it, I would imagine that using a erie derie off a dipsy would work. Sometimes when the bite is on it doesn't really matter what you put past them they'll hit it.
