I used it too, and had some success. They say that it is 3' or so down that the color dissapears. I'm not all too sure it disapears to fish though. Some fish may actually be attracted to it, being the color of a blood line? Anyway, I have had success using it for wipers at Arthur, with lures and bait that were well less than 3' down. I also used it as a leader material, fishing the rivers, and seemed to produce as much as clear line. Not sure if it would be any better than a clear line, but I think is the same cost, so no real penalty for trying it.
I am very impressed with a line that I have just purchased for ocean surf fishing. It is called Breakaway. It is a copolymer line, the diameter of most 8lb line, but has a 14lb rating. I've only fished it twice at Lake Arthur, but has handled 2 x 10lb+ wipers. Fish very capable of snapping 8lb line, at the drag setting that I had it set at. It is very sensitive too. I do notice that it is much easier to cut than a normal 14lb line though. I have trouble biting through regular 14lb line, but this stuff is like biting through 8lb line. So if you plan on fishing really toothy critters or around a bunch of debris, it might not hold up. I have only seen it in 14lb and 20lb. Would imagine the 20lb to be as thick as a normal 14lb.
