What's up w/ Brodhead Creek

I saw 50 guys beating the waters on opening day, with only 1 fish caught all day???  Such a beautiful river, but no fish?   Any ideas?

I usually avoid the Brodheads the first week or two of the season if I can for that reason. Could be a few reasons why. The first that comes to mind would be the water temp. I fished a smaller stream the first week and had off and on action with nymphs and buggers. My father who was with me the first day uses worms and only caught a few. He did have a fair share of hits but they were only nipping the heads off.

I might go check it out tommorrow or this weekend if it isnt a circus still

I know to expect the crowds on opening day, but it's a camping weekend tradition, so I go anyway.  When you say the temp may have been off, are you saying it might be too cold??  Also - we had very storng thunderstorms roll through about 3.5 hours before the season opened, so I wondered about that.  Let me know how you do.  I like the river, but it takes me an hour to get there, so when I go I sure would like to come back with something!

Almost all the NEPA streams were slow onopening day from what I heard/ saw. The water temps and rain certainly gave the trout a case of lockjaw.

I may give the Broadhead a try Sunday evening for eels. I catch more trout deadsticking worms at 1AM while eel fishing then I do when I'm actually fishing for them.

I did well first day!! I got 25 in the wallenpaupack river. I also got 60 or more the next time they stocked it. Follow the stocking dates and you will do great. The butternut was not stock on the lower end due to the owners posting the land so they dumped them in the pac river.  Lucky me!
