Chalk one up for Shapiro and PA. Apparently he had to step in and handle the case because his AG Dave Sunday is a Trump sycophant and would rather see the residents of PA get screwed. https://www.wesa.fm/polit...t-funding-freeze-fixedIt’s mind blowing that PA MAGA would rather see this state rot just so they can bathe in liberal tears but here we are.

I don’t have to leave because the governor of PA has balls and took the Trump administration to court and got the funding turned back on. And by the way, if anybody is curious as to what the funding is for, it’s for a variety of things including infrastructure and environmental cleanup projects. One great example is the cleanup of Blacklick creek near Vintondale, which was totally destroyed by AMD and in the near future should support aquatic life again. The annual operating budget of the treatment facility will be partially funded by Biden’s infrastructure bill. Would a bunch of fishermen on a fishing message board rather have clean waterways to fish in? Or would they rather have orange, dead rivers, just to spite the libtards?

Messages like this give me hope that we can get through this political divide. America was pretty great the last time I got mooned. I mean, you get mooned by a chick and it is like Christmas morning. Some might argue it is better than getting flashed. Even mooned by some disgusting fat duud, it is pretty hilarious. You really can’t get mad over it. Someone flips the bird and can turn into a murder scene. Someone puts the effort into mooning, no doubt they are laughing hysterically in the process, how could you possibly get mad?

WOW I know exactly where that creek is . The Ghost Town Trail goes right through that area and I have ridden my bike over it numerous times . I grew up in a town about 4 miles from there and my dearly departed wife was from Vintondale. The mining industry polluted many areas around there. Be nice to see it cleaned up. Upstream from there and around Nanty Glo they did do a lot of reclamation work. Hauled huge amounts of what we referred to as boney piles were hauled away from Vintondale and Nanty Glo to a plant in Ebensburgh, burned in a co gen plant. That’s what I call a win win situation. Hats off to the GOV.

Greatness is not measured by what we have, but by what we give. If I were to give our children but one thing, it would be the gift of euthusiam!

I know the creek too. My girlfriend and I usually hit the ghost town trail about once a year and we have been watching the progress on the treatment facility for about the last 5 years. It is a huge project with 10s of millions of dollars invested in cleanup with funding from a variety of sources - some state money, federal money, and some private. The facility just became operational and they began treating discharge from three mines, so improvements in water quality should soon be seen from vintondale, 20 miles downstream to the confluence with two lick creek. Within the next 10 years, that creek could be a great fishery. If you’ve biked the trail, you’ve surely seen its potential. Black lick is a tributary of the Conemaugh, which is a tributary of the kiski, which empties into the Allegheny just above Freeport. Anybody that boats or fishes downstream from vintondale will benefit from the improvement in water quality. And that’s just one example. Government money has been funding projects just like it all over the state for 50+ years.

The trail is a great asset to the surrounding communities. I don’t know what section you ride but from the access point at the lower end of vintondale up to where it crosses under route 422 is an exceptionally nice ride. I used to live 5 minutes away from that part of the trail. The stream is pretty and supports aquatic life. If you ever want to meet me somewhere along there to ride just let know.

I think you’re talking about the ride up through the little creek gorge as you approach Nanty Glo, right? I agree that might be my favorite section of the trail. But who knows, maybe that will change once the AMD gets cleaned up. I think some of the scenery down below Dilltown all the way to Saylor Park would be gorgeous if the creek wasn’t bright orange. I think a local club stocks trout near vintondale, but they wouldn’t be able to go very far downstream from there. The AMD is coming in around Wehrum. Here is a link to a site with very recent updates on the status of the treatment facility, if you’re interested: https://blacklickcreekwat...creek-treatment-plant/We’re trying to ride out there this spring, just to see if the creek looks any different yet. If we make it out there I’ll give you a holler.
