More like “screw you,” I’ve been laid off 4 times in my career, all by actions directly attributable to Democrat administrations, despite education and hard work, so I didn't get mine, now it’s your turn to experience what the private sector has.

I’m a little skeptical about the “directly attributable to democrat administration” part, let’s just say that part is accurate.

Why should anybody wish suffering or hardship on others, just because they had to endure it? Is that in the Bible or something? Is that how we should govern the country? Just take turns screwing over groups of fellow citizens?
[/quote

Let me clarify. The day Clinton signed NAFTA the company I worked for shipped jobs to Juarez, Mexico. The day Obama granted favorable trade status to China the company I worked for shipped jobs to Dongguan, China. The day Obama declared his war on coal, the company I worked for cut 40% of its workforce because coal crushing equipment was that big of a part of their business. The day Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline, the company I had previously worked for cut 50% of their workforce because they built oil shale separation equipment.

So yes, direct action by Democrat administrations.

As for wishing hardship on others, those are your words, not mine. I wish hardship on no one. But they didn’t give a hoot about me and my hardships, so I guess my attitude is “sorry this happened to you, but it’s your turn in the barrel.” That’s quite different.

And none of it has anything to do with governing the country. Just running a more efficient organization, of which the government happens to be one.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

You said some of us aren't well easy I am an 80% disabled veteran. In my many years of dealing with the VA in most cases they were just wonderful.I am sure there is waste the VA is 450,000 to 490,000 people and a 0.5% cut of non essential people would hardly be noticed and if they spend the savings on veterans health care rather than DEI Bull_chit I'm all for it.Me think unless your a vet and have dealt with the VA maybe you should stay quiet on the subject and we will see the facts and indeed if they use the savings wisely.

Let me clarify. The day Clinton signed NAFTA the company I worked for shipped jobs to Juarez, Mexico.

Negotiations for NAFTA began under Reagan. He ran on it as part of his platform in 1979. George HW Bush signed the initial draft of the agreement in December 1992, before Clinton even took office.

It was then ratified by 132 republicans and 100 democrats in the House and it passed the senate with 34 republicans and 27 democrats voting in favor.

The Congressman who fought the hardest FOR its passage was a Republican (David Dreier) and the guy who fought hardest AGAINST it was a Democrat (Luis guiterrrz).

Did Clinton support it? Yes, he did. But it had substantial bipartisan support in Congress as well, and in fact, despite Democrat control of both chambers of Congress at that time, MORE REPUBLICANS voted to ratify the agreement than democrats.

So you can blame “a democrat administration” and sure that’s kinda sorta correct if you don’t look any further than the fact that Clinton signed the final version. But the wheels were set in motion long before he took office, and republicans pushed HARD for its passage.

And that’s not even taking account of the fact that your greedy employer is the party that DIRECTLY sold you out. Because that’s how capitalism works.

But yet it’s all the democrats fault huh? I don’t think so. Truth is a little more complicated.

I’d be happy to go over your other examples as well but I’m pretty sure nobody can ever convince you that democrats aren’t the root of all evil in this world, or convince you that Trump isn’t screwing us 1000x harder than democrats ever did, so I’m not sure it’s worth any more of my time.

Welcome to the public sector, not the Wild West.

It's gonna be the "Wild West" if you think that you can gut public services and replace them with what??? You know what the tradeoffs are by choosing to work in the public vs. private sectors so I won't belabor that point.  So, we're going to make the public sector more "efficient" by firing thousands of people and replacing them with Elon's AI?  You realize that's what this is, right?  Unless you want to convince me that a business titan like Elon is in it for "public service"?? Maybe it's the healthcare??  I know, paid federal holidays?? That must be it...

So nothing eh? An uncomfortable topic for sure.

Will be interesting to see looking back on this period. Shameful.

If you are referring to the Bannon thing you posted, do you still fall for “pull my finger” as well?

Yeah. After Musks salute - the Bannon salute and a Presidential hopeful of mexico's salute.

They're doing this at your parties political action conference.

But yeah, pull my finger. Wonder what those who fought in WW2 would think eh?

Since my Dad earned 4 Purple Hearts in WWII, froze his feet during the Battle of the Bulge that effected him the rest of his life, ruined his hearing, saw 6 of 10 of his small town friends not come home, shot people in the face at arms length before they did the same to him, and had a brother carried out with Murrells Marauders, I know what he would think — there is real evil in this world and it needed confronted (he gave up a full boat scholarship to Rice Medical school to go to war for what he thought was right, never was able to get back to school, ended up getting laid off 3 times, each under a democratic administration, all of which he voted for by the way, because that is what union members did, and died a hollow shell of what he thought a man should be for his generation) and there is faux outrage at mindless crap, often made up, staged, or deliberately interpreted by those who are far less than he was, went through far less than he did, and seek far more attention over nothing.

So yeah, getting one’s knickers in a knot over something like this, when living the privileged life that his sacrifice, his brother’s sacrifices, his town’s sacrifices is a kin to getting fooled again by “pull my finger” and thinking it is of some great importance.

I'm not sure what to tell you Dardys - if you can't see what is in front of your own eyes for what it is. I'd be willing to bet you see and know it for what it is though.

It was clear when Musk did it, clear when Bannon did it, clear when Verástegui did it. It's reprehensible, and should not be normalized or downplayed.

There's already scumbags trying to get away with it now: https://www.kivitv.com/news/local-news/in-your-neighborhood/ada-county/idaho-ceo-resigns-following-controversy-over-giving-nazi-salute-at-corporate-event

These man and those who support these actions, should be absolutely ashamed. Completely disgraceful.

So the House passed a resolution with $2 trillion in spending cuts, and $4.5 trillion in tax cuts.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed that they managed to squeeze $2 trillion in spending cuts in the first place, but how does this even add up?

Isnt musk’s whole schtick that we need to balance the budget and stop running deficits so we can pay off the debt?

Even if they are pushing the excuse that the “tax cuts will pay for themselves” (which is what Trump said last time, and they didnt), is it really “fiscally responsible” to pass a budget with a $2.5 trillion deficit and then just cross your fingers and hope it works?

Seriously though this is refreshing. I much prefer it when these MAGA guys just come right out and admit they don’t care about anything except making other Americans suffer. And all the whining about inflation and the deficit and all the other crap they pretend to care about is just an excuse to complain. It is pretty clear that neither side’s politicians give two chits about the deficit. It is a nice thing for voters to talk about, but is pure political BS once their side gets in. Everyone knows that 90% of politicians are 100% about themselves. They don’t give 2 chits about the future of this country.
