I don’t think that I would ever hear or see this woke stuff if it weren’t for the MAGAs on this site repeating what FoxNews or other right wing media is reporting. I know it exists in the real world. I’ve met people that have trans kids, I know some G&L people, none push any sort of agenda, although I have met some that do. I’ve yet to experience any of the “they/them”. I live in a somewhat liberal area, so assume most that aren’t in or close to urban areas are personally experiencing

I know several trans people. At least one I would consider more than a casual acquaintance and more of a personal friend. I’ve known lots of queeer people over my lifetime as well. The vast majority of those folks just want to be left the hell alone and live their lives. They don’t really care all that much about pronouns or whether trans people play sports, they just want the same rights as everybody else.

The Republican Party started this focus on trans people with the bathroom bills in the wake of the SCOTUS ruling in obergefell vs Hodges. It was very much a deliberate strategy to get their base riled up over an imaginary problem, and trans people are a very easy target. The only reason that democrats or people like myself ever talk about trans people is because we feel obligated to defend them from right wing attacks.

On a similar note, my girlfriend also has close personal ties to the Puerto Rican community in pittsburgh, and a lot of those folks are legitimately scared. As Puerto Ricans, they were born as US citizens, but they have brown skin and speak English with accents, so they are worried about being targeted.

The point I’m getting at here is that the horrible shiit that Trump and the Republican Party is doing affects real people in real ways. Trump has brought out the worst in this country by stirring up bigotry and hate against people who are already struggling, and it’s fukking revolting. That’s why I refuse to play the “both sides” game, because I don’t care about that one thing he did right that one time. His overall impact on the country and our political discourse and the cultural landscape is far too damaging. I’ll take the democrats with all of their flaws in a heartbeat.

Nooooooo the republican party didnt START any focus on anyone-Libs did it when making dopy rules and special weeks or months to celebrate people in alternative lifestyles--They put a big spotlight on these people.
 

Yeah, there was a auction not to far from me today. Was hoping to go to load up but didn't feel like going by myself.

The articles on the net pretty much all say how much AR-15 has grown in popularity over the last several years.

The gun shops on the net say there has been massive amounts of people not wanting them now and trading them in or selling them outright. They say it's a good time to buy the second hand ones with deals that haven't been seen before. Racks well over stocked with the demand not there.

Miss working at a sporting goods store this time of season. We would sell ammo way cheaper than you could load yourself. Bad thing is that stuff is so heavy.

I was at Grice's in Clearfield last weekend...I agree...lots of good second hand deals for 5.56...also 6.5 creed...if the US actually curbs shipments to Mexico the prices will drop even more...gonna be a real wild west here again soon.

Acknowledging that LGBT people have the same rights as everybody else is not “putting a spotlight” on anything.

But I guess if you’re one of those people that can’t stand the thought of a gaay person breathing the same air as you do then I can understand how any reminders of their mere existence is more than you are willing to tolerate.

For some people it’s very important to have out groups that must be deprived of basic human rights and blamed for everything that’s wrong in the world. The Republican party is very good at leveraging this to manipulate voters.
