Why?

Absolutely no action here for quite some time. I used to enjoy reading the post's here and the fly tying tips. Be nice to see some activity here.

All chased away because of the trump thread always being the top/only activity. There's another website that has banned political posting that you can learn about fly tying on.

Excuse my ignorance but I don’t know where that would be. I know YouTube etc, but I kinda miss the way it used to be here. And some of the departed posters, double taper being one of many.☹️

DT moved states, somewhere very south, if I recall correctly.

The poster formally known as Duncsdad

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Nice. What length/weight leaders do you like to use with those game changers? I've done a few around 2-2.5" that aren't terrible to cast with a 5wt.

The flies come out around 5 to 7in.  I throw a 10wt. I run 20lb mono to a afw wire leader but am going to change to a 50lb or higher fluoro.  Think the Muskie are wire shy.  Been having problems where the mono attaches to the fly line so I might be changing the mono size but I think fly line is too cheap so I got Rio predator. Hoping that works and doesn’t snap when I get weight on it.
The mono length I’ll run about 8ft. The leader is about a foot or two.

Awesome flies and catch. I forget who the poster was, but talked about his son always crushing musky on either Pymie or Shanango with 6lb line saying similar about the wire shy. Mind blank on who it was, a guy that was a regular that fished Shenango a lot. I can see wire or even heavy mono messing with a fly cast. Tapering to lighter is part of how the whole fly casting whip action works. I wonder if you did just a short bite leader with your Rio? Maybe longer shank hook if it doesn’t mess with the action. That way the hook is acting as a bit of a tooth protector. You’ve got patience out the rear targeting musky on the fly. I don’t even have the patience to target them on conventional…

Pretty sure most of the time they were night fishing for Eyes or wade fishing for Bass/Eyes during the evening/morning and getting into a few now and then. Defiantly didn't look like they were targeting Musky with a mid sized floating Rapala and medium light spinning rods and reels.

My son Tim has caught a number of them while Bass fishing. He had a large collection of Musky / Pike plugs, spinners, poppers, ducks, bats, rats & flies come to the house about a week ago. I try not to even take a glimpse of his tackle and haven't watched a second of his shows in the last year in a half.

I'm telling ya Tim selling tackle isn't a bad income. He has over 14,000 followers and over a million in sales in less than 2 years on one site alone working by himself and his mom helps sort and stock for free.

Really doesn’t mess up my casts. It’s definitely not a conventional setup. Have to run some kind of leader think a foot is good as I had muskie suck in lures that are 14in long savage gear trout  and had 80lb braid cut like it was nothing with their teeth.

I remember talking to Captain Hook was a nice guy and gave me some very good tips back in the day.

If he has any good Muskie lures let me know. Im into making my own these days kills me paying over 20bucks for a lure and losing it. Ruins my day.

I'm sure he has at least a few truck loads of Musky lures.. He has to get the Amish up to a couple of his large buildings and have them put up a bunch more 10' H x 8' W x 4' D commercial shelving. He bought about $50,000 (retail) like new for a couple grand a month or 2 ago and needs to get more up. So many pallets on pallets, large totes stacked high on top of each other, 40' long storage containers over loaded, shop, summer house loaded plus his other storage units and barn are over loaded with fishing tackle.

He tries to unload between 5 and 8 grand of tackle a show and sells live online 99.5%  of the time. Think my old lady said he has a show this evening/night since he wasn't feeling good yesterday. He will never be able to sell all of it at this pace.

A sample of his shelving so far.

Loved getting the Creepy Crawler set for Christmas. Was as good as the Easy Bake Oven.
Noticed 4-5 large totes of Musky lures in his weekend home's basement while hooking up heat tape in December. Should be up that way in the next couple weeks if you were looking for something special.

Well my package survived the great American drive trip from Pennsylvania to New York City before it was put on an aeroplane and headed down under. It made it past the wombats in customs of Australian airport, then headed my way in the back of the van, dodging the dingos bypassing the kangaroos, and delivered to my door by turkey in a van! Everything is as ordered in great condition. I recommend buying your products from Tim. He is a high class seller on this platform, some of the best items and greatest prices you can find. 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺
