Hey War--this should get your panties in a twist---the new AG just made a move to cancel Fed Funding to Sanctuary Cities.

Exactly. Less than 4 percent of illegals in this country work as Ag workers.

My buddy is as MAGA as you can get other than having a little soft spot for the immigrants. He sold me his AR not long ago. Said he only bought it because Biden got elected "While we still can" I said the same to him because Trump was ready to take over đŸ€—

I never made close to what those Immigrant 's do per hour. They get paid over twice the minimum wage.

The number one Ag state in the nation is CA. The minimum wage in CA is currently $16.50/hr. Do you believe illegals are being paid over $33/hr to do farm work?

The little info that's out there they still do better than I did. Thanks for the inspiration, I needed that.

Good thing the (EITC) came into place under Ford and expanded under Regan and Bush

Some of my friends up here were farm work hands that had to live on the property in crappy trailers for shiitt  pay and work all hours. The worst ones were the dairy farms, no matter what, the cows needed milked twice daily 7 days a week on top of all the other chores plus the unexpected crises that would regularly seem to arise.

That's good to know, we should have plenty of farm workers to do the job and not one single drop off đŸ‘ŒđŸ€„Â

My theory on the Trump/Gaza thing. The guy is clearly hellbent to take over another country. Maybe if he insists on the worst country in the world to occupy, Greenland or Panama doesn’t look like such a bad idea? Can’t we just rename countries and be good with that?

Yeah, the picture is becoming clearer.  He made a Freudian slip when he said "riviera" in connection with Gaza.  He's a real estate guy, he wants real estate.  Clinton was a poon guy, he wanted poon etc...

Lets look at facts.  Per the US Dept of Agriculture:

In 2020–22, 32 percent of crop farmworkers were U.S. born, 7 percent were immigrants who had obtained U.S. citizenship, 19 percent were other authorized immigrants (primarily permanent residents or green-card holders), and the remaining 42 percent held no work authorization.

"Trump said the task force would be directed to “immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government, including at the DOJ, which was absolutely terrible, the IRS, the FBI — terrible — and other agencies.”"

Cutting the fat eh guys? Stoppin' that govt waste!

The “back to the office” initiative for federal employees is excellent. I think this is long overdue. To be transparent, it puts food on my table. So did the flex scheduling and downsizing of spaces
. I have work piling up and being asked to take on something new daily. Good thing the lake is ice covered. But probably going to ruin my spring plans. Bonus plan and profit sharing will be nice though.

I’m not sure they really planned this out all too well, or at all... Surprised? After the pandemic many agencies found new, smaller spaces to lease. Planning for the flex schedules, they were told to reduce size saving tax payers on less rent and less heating/cooling/lighting smaller soaces. Now, many just don’t have the real estate for the instant “expansion” of onsite employees. They don’t know how many to plan for since they don’t know how many will be removed. Without knowing this, they don’t know the size needed, the mechanicals needed, the data needed, the FF&E needed. Typically a renovation/relocation and built out to suit, is close to a 2 year process from initiating design to move in ready, depending on scale. That is if you have a building that can accommodate and not have to find a different one. Even more time for new construction. This isn’t every building, but most if not all will need at least some sort of minor work that is more than 6 month process if fast tracked. As noted a few pages back, fast tracking with Federal government is pretty difficult, especially if they work with anything sensitive, which most agencies do. These clocks can only start when they know what they will need. Which most don’t have a clue right now.

There is likely going to be an initial 5 times the cost to implement, than the savings. Granted, over time should pay for itself. If NOTHING changes (if Dems take control, guessing that might happen) and these agencies maybe didn’t over due the minimum required staff or other factors that require renovations sooner.

The early retirement is 8 months of pay and benefits. If you are 8 months or less of eligibility to retire and of SS age, probably a good idea. If you are under 30 and marketable in the private sector, probably a good idea. If you are between 30-64, willing to go back to an office, you most likely aren’t taking the deal.

Another overall policy that I like. The shock and awe implementation is beyond perplexing and likely going to lead to a net savings of just more added cost to the deficit

I as well
we were WFH 7-8 months(?)  during the pandemic

I'm Ole School, and not a fan  WFH
I want a place to go at 8am and a place to leave  at 4

when mandatory WFH ended, I was happy to return
we were given option of  hybrid  3 days in, 2 days home (most opted for that)
what I see as a result is a lack of continuity and cohesiveness among the teams .
=====================================================

as far as the office space thing

it's funny to hear media squawk "not enough office space" in one breath, and in another breath  talk of selling off excess office space that goes back a decade

methinks the doom 'n gloom "no space" and mega traffic jams may be hyped a tad due to most media portraying  Trump and Elon as Beelzebub and The Beast  incarnate

Genie, I haven’t heard it at all in the media. It is the top item on every departmental meeting and progress meetings with clients that I have had since the “fork in the road” came out. Our clients are freaking out. Our board is doing back flips of joy
. I hate being too busy, but with how esthetic our board is, the likelihood that the crumbs drop to me are pretty good. If it has me working at a bait shop near the beach by the time I am 55, I’m fine busting my butt until then.

Side note, close to 80% of our business is from the military. Who are expecting a ton of funds. So, the board excitement was a combination of factors. I’m sure they wouldn’t have been happy at all if these cuts extended to the DOD.

I’d hope there are some articles on it. From your last message, it seemed like you were insinuating that it was all over the media. I personally haven’t had time to look beyond my phone news front page and whatever happens to be on the local news. I’ll check this weekend to see if any mention of leads to check out! 😃
