I'm not sure what you mean, Gator. If referring to the budget... Musk is not only an adviser to Trump now, but also a citizen with the same 1A rights as you, me and Whoopie Goldberg. ..KTF
He has the same 1A rights as us but maybe a tad more pull...not sure. Just because someone can, should they? He's basically an unelected private citizen that just blew up the budget deal because he owns his own social network.

What a joke. Comparing Elon to Soros. Another Melon head TDSER. Guess who YOUR POTUS is for the next 4 years ?? Donald J Trump... Sleep on that.
Every one of your comments in this thread is basically this same thing. Do you ever actually have any other thoughts in that MAGA soaked brain? It’s estimated that Musk spent around $250 million on various super PACs during the 2024 election. He also bought one of the most widely used social media platforms in the US and used it to amplify trumps messages. It’s not much of an exaggeration to say he “bought a presidency”, and now he’s in an unprecedented position of power and influence over the federal government, while a bunch of the companies he’s involved in have tens of millions in government contracts. It’s cartoon villain levels of corruption. And yea it’s so out in the open that it’s difficult to imagine they would be so brazen about behavior that’s so obviously crooked. Then again that has basically been trumps MO since the beginning and nobody seemed to care.

Is this a question in response to what I posted? I’m not sure I understand what you are even asking. But surprise, surprise, musk and Trump are already screwing up the spending bill after Johnson had negotiated a bipartisan deal. Remember when I said republicans can’t actually govern? It’s only get worse when Trump is sworn in and Johnson’s house majority gets even smaller.

Well that’s an illogical and absurd thing to say but ok. The only people that are responsible for trumps win are the people that voted for him. And when his 2nd term turns into a complete disaster, that will be on them too.

d Haha, geeze man, the first two in your list just make statements that probably influences some voters...the last two make/made a living off political punditry...none of them can literally interject themselves into congress to blow up a spending bill like Musk just did. There's no precedence for this and if the ultra rich can now buy this type of influence at the highest levels of government I'd have to say I'm not on board.

It enraged Republicans because once again, Johnson went behind their backs in committee and gave the 'Crats everything they wanted with a CR that covered clear up 'til March of '26. Had Schumer lickin' his chops and smilin' from ear to ear waitin' for it in the Senate. Surely you didn't think that schitte was gonna flush, didja?

Why is it only bipartisan if the 'Crats get everything they want? Since the days of Tip O'neal in the House, when the Republicans reach a hand across the aisle and cave in bipartisanship, the 'Crats then cut the hand off.

He made his millions the honest way, by working hard in congress. These right wing billionaires obviously made their money by lying, cheating and screwing the american people. geez BH

I'm not allowed to have an opinion about Elon Musk and his involvement with congress on this issue that could possibly deny military members a paycheck over the holidays? I'm not outraged and I'm not spun. I just think it's a slippery slope...and I am pizzed at congress mostly because they play this game all the time. Do you really think it's a good thing to have the richest man in the world, who has so much technology at his fingertips and money and power and influence, unvetted and unfettered, to be calling shots in our gov't? I don't, that's all. Most "advisers" don't have one of the most trafficked social media sites in the world that they completely control. We are at the tip of the iceberg with AI...think Elon knows anything about that? ...you are correct though, he is part of the administration so there's that.

Shutdown and government funding bill aside… Musk has publicly stated he will basically keep throwing money at elections until he gets the desired outcome. He has said he will support primary challengers for congressional democrat and republican candidates that he doesn’t like. And as the richest man in the world, this threat carries considerable weight. He’s not just simply exercising 1st amendment rights. He’s (1) using his vast financial resources to influence elections, and then (2) when his preferred candidate is in office, he is imposing disproportionate influence over public policy to his own personal benefit. For example - Trump puts him on an “advisory board” (or whatever DOGE is supposed to be) that is going to make recommendations on government funding, meanwhile spaceX and Tesla have received about $20 billion in federal funding over the last 20 years. The stock of both companies shot up immediately after the election because investors anticipated the federal government throwing boatloads of contracts and subsidies at musk’s companies. Which of course they will, because musk threw a ton of money behind the Trump campaign. The conflict of interest and corruption could not possibly be more obvious. https://www.usatoday.com/...-spending/76301473007/No single individual should have this much influence on our elections and our government. The term “oligarch” is being used to describe him and I don’t think it’s too far off the mark. Anybody that has ever complained about “money in politics”, should be outraged. But of course MAGA will pretend everything is fine because he’s on team Trump right now and all of the above would only be bad if a democrat was doing it.

Republicans would have been wise to take the initial funding bill that went to 2026. Now they have to go through the whole thing again in March. And there will be a lot less motivation for democrats to work with them because it won’t be like 5 days before Christmas, and Trump will be in office so it will make him look bad when it all blows up.

I have been opposed to the Citizens United decision since 2010, which is when SCOTUS opened the door to this. let’s actually compare musk to Soros tho Did George Soros spend a quarter billion dollars on super PACs, and then did Biden or Obama put George Soros in charge of some pseudo governmental department that might have significant influence on not just the federal budget overall, but specifically how much money the federal government gives to george Soros’ own companies? I don’t think that ever happened. Did George Soros spend $44 billion to acquire one of the most widely used social media platforms in the world to amplify Biden’s or Obama’s political messaging? I don’t think that happened either. Go ahead and look up how much George Soros funded super PACs spent on boosting democrats and compare it to what musk spent. Tell me which is more. What musk is now doing is beyond anything we have seen before. But what’s really funny is that republicans only ever complain about George Soros, but never actually talk about fixing the problem, which would be to reverse Citizens United. Republicans will defend the SCOTUS decision that allowed the wealthiest people in the country to have almost unlimited power, but then act like it’s a travesty of justice when a rich person supports democrats. You want to fix the problem? Toss citizens United and level the playing field. EVERY prominent elected Democrat has publicly stated they would support it. How many republicans have? None.

to boil it down, what I'm hearing is a one man super pac (that enjoys major genpop support) is your big concern, I "get it" I'll wait to see how it shakes out and not be fear mongered by those that are major bummed that they're no longer in control of "business as usual" side note; the amount of money that's spent in modern day elections is obscene, period as far gov money and SpaceX, hopefully we get better value than we did with Solyndra ..KTF
